18 should be the rule for being able to fight in Pro MMA fights, before then you should only be allowed to compete in amateur fights with head gear and 3 minute rounds.

Who is the parent that thought that was a good idea for their kid?

The potential for injury to an immature body is immense. Those kids do not have the neck muscles to give adequate support to their neck and spines.

Wow....just wow.....

I think America treats their kids like a bunch of sissys and I see nothing wrong with kids fighting MMA. Many kids start Boxing at pre teen years and the Gracies train their kids at about 5.

Head gear can not be worn in an MMA match by kids because it would interfere with subs. If people dont want their children getting punched in the face then ban facial strikes. And kids should be allowed to go PRO at about 16 just like in boxing. Only if the parents allow it.

The Gracies may start training their kids at 5, but I would bet even money they don't train them in anything to do with the head or neck until they enter puberty and start building the muscle mass necessary to support their neck correctly.

As for your comment about Americans treating their kids like sissies, that my friend, is an ignorant comment. Between football, hockey, and other smaller full contact sports there are plenty of injuries to go around here in America. The difference is, those other sports have equipment to try to minimize the chance of injury.

Its all about waiting for the appropriate time to introduce kids to the right sport. You wait until their bodies can take the stress the sport places on the body. It has nothing to do with being a sissy.

I would bet money that your wrong about the Gracie kids not doing neck subs. I dont think they allow the kids to be choked out but certainly would allow it to be applied. If anything it would make them more flexable. Now if head strikes wouldn't be allowed then I would give the benifit of the doubt but like I said, Muay Thai and Boxers start at a very young age and get KOTO as kids all the time. Hell in many countries, kids fight wars at the age of 12 or so. Would you say their wrong just because america is different? I say different strokes for different folks.

Neck subs are not needed to make you more flexible. In your opinion, which neck sub makes you more flexible? Which neck sub defense?

Yes, other countries or cultures are wrong if the kids are getting injured (not hurt, injured, there is a difference). This is not a cultural distinction I am making, it is a medical distinction. Do you even know what the physical reason why a person loses consciousness with a knock out punch? I will save you the Google search, it is because the brain short circuits from bouncing around in the skull. Are you suggesting that this is an acceptable practice for kids to have happen to them?

Ok...I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you just didn't think that last part through. Just in case I need to spell it out for you, yes, 12 year old kids fighting in a war is wrong. Not a little bit wrong, not half wrong, but 100% wrong.

So yes...those countries are wrong to let it happen. If you really need this to be reinforced, Google the words Congo and child soliders.
