| Too all who missed Countdown to UFC 100.
It is now available for viewing on the UFC website.
Most of the the show was devoted to Mir/Lesnar and Hendo/Bisping. Surprisingly the segment on GSP/Alves was rather uninspiring IMO.

I actually watched it this morning. I love how Mir kept insisting he was going for an armbar before Maz stepped in. I train a bit of JJ and I'll be the first to admit I'm certainly no expert, but I didn't think it was possible to throw up an armbar from half guard.
Can't wait till this weekend.

Was he in half guard? I thought he was in a sloppy side control, oh well, doesn't matter.
Anyhowever, yes, you can hit an armbar from half. Check out Helio Soneca's half guard dvd.

You can pull off the arm bar from half guard but you have to have mad flexibility to make it happen. I'm going to watch it again before finishing this comment...

If it's possible and Mir can actually pull it off, props to him, can't be easy

Ok just watched it and it was soo loose that I can only describe as a sausage in a dustbin. Usually from halfguard you need to move to fullguard before looking for the armbar. In this case lesnar gave Mir so much room that you can see he throws his leg up looking for the armbar before ref stops it.
Conclusion: he was indeed going for the armbar but it would have been a sloppy one. I believe it was his defensive instinct to throw the leg up rather than stay there and eat those donkey kong punches.

Agreed. I highly doubt he would've sunk in the armbar & finished Brock. But it likely would've made Brock react - thus stopping the punches & creating space for Mir to move on to something else.

The main thing that I gained from the show is that Lesnar is an ass who has no respect for the sport of MMA. He tries to build himself up by knocking others down. I hope that Mir breaks his arm this time.
