But as soon as the fight ended, I said Akiyama won. My two friends I was watching it with said Belcher won.
I think the takedown/throw by Sexyama near the end of the 3rd round sealed the deal.

Not sure how one judge got it 30-27 Akiyama though. Sounds like the handywork of Cecil Peoples.

my friends and i were discussing the nature of the tat on belcher. California raisin? fat black elvis? the most popular idea was Kid from Kid n Play and the Houseparty movies. until they said it was johnny cash. which we didnt believe. and i never listen to the commentary, but i felt like belcher was more agressive and maybe shouldve won the fight. the second round was pretty close, couldve gone either way, but i didnt think the sloppy takedown at the end should have given sexyama the round.

Here's the thing about close decisions. If you do not finish the fight and it is very close, the decision is rendered by three men each having their own opinions formulated based on their own perspectives. It's stupid to argue about a close decision. It could have gone either way. If you don't like the decision, finish the opponent.

The FightMetric stats said there were no reversals by either fighter, which is just not true. Off the top of my head I remember Belcher getting 1 reversal, and I think there was more then 1 scramble in the fight. Anyways, Akiyama was definitely landing a lot of strikes with his hands and it sounded like Rogan and Goldberg were disregarding them. I especially hate how Goldberg declares a round winner or a fight winner; he's not a judge and all it can serve to do is create bias in the minds of the fans. I mean Akiyama even knocked Belcher down in the 3rd and neither commentator even seemed to mention it.

I could see the fight going either way, it was very close, but I don't know how anyone can say a fighter is "robbed" in such a close fight.

I had Akiyama 29-28
In round 1, the only shots Belcher got in was those leg kicks and that one left hook...while Akiyama had at least 10 big shots in.
Round 2, Akiyama won half the round on the ground and it was a stalemate on the feet.

In round 3, I had Belcher with a slight edge with his strikes. BUt I guess it all depends on how much you want to count that last takedown.

Rogan and Goldie were seriously baffled...and I had no idea why they were so mad.

I have to watch it today. But from what I heard by about 4 people is that Akiyama won a razor close fight, and 1 or 2 people I know are saying Belcher def won.

I had the fight going either way, but after watching it for a second time I thought Belcher edged it out. Sexyama got him down but was not effective once he got there in which case I awarded Belcher more for getting back to the feet.

Each round was close but I gave all 3 to Akiyama (I did miss the first half of the first round but I had Akiyama winning the last few minutes from what I saw). I could understand how anyone could make a 29-28 decision for Akiyama but it should be clear that he won that fight...

I do not think "robbed" is the right word persay, but I do think that Belcher won the bout.

I went into the fight a Akiyama fan and was pulling for him and I got that feeling in the pit of my gut when a fighter I enjoy is getting it handed to him and IMO would lose a decision and was pretty shocked to hear he'd won. Again, when the guy you cheer wins and you don't believe he won, there's that kinda hollow victory to it. I had Belcher, but I think that was UFC gitters on Sexyama's account.
