It's the smarter thing to do, rather than just run into a title shot. I believe that it's better to fight all the top fighter you can before ask for that title fight. The more experience you have the more tools you will posses in that title fight and in title defense if you win.
He'd be better off fighting Monson or Tim than aa. Like i said, let him get past mir before he's touted as the next big thing.

I think AA is higher risk for less reward.

Brandon Vera: I still feel the exact same, I mean I'm not comfortable holding the title yet, I mean I still got a couple things, I still get caught in practice with a couple things that I need to work on so I definitely want to be able to hold that title for a while. Like a ten-time champion or something, not just a flash in the pan, in-and-out reign. I still got things to work on, a title shot or not I do want to fight the best guys in the world. So I guess I'll just have to take it as it comes

Brandon Vera: It's cool. Yeah, it's ok. But the undefeated part? I realized a long time ago how unimportant that was because I was undefeated wrestling in high school in my junior or senior year. I started to get real big I had to sit back and decide which division I was gonna fight a kid from.... You see because there was a division II school and I was in a division III school, the biggest school so it was like the ghetto school [the kid's school I would be fighting]. And I thought I was gonna just whoop his ass because I was the undefeated who-hah, whatever I thought I was. Then I got, not smashed, but dude he beat me soundly. I walked off that mat and I never ever forgot that lesson, man. Never ever in my life will I ever forget that lesson. So for me, it's not about the record anymore. I mean, you're going to win some, you're going to lose some, it doesn't matter who you are. And it's just, that's just how it is for the record. To me it doesn't bother me at all, I don't even think about my record. People will ask me what my record is, and I'll be like "uhh...6-0? maybe 8-0? 7-0 or something like that?" And they'll ask me, "you've never lost" and I'll be like "yeah, I lost in kickboxing." So I always have to explain to people that I have lost. I've lost in kickboxing before. I lost to the world champion WK in a split decision. So I mean, I tell people that I've lost. You know what I mean? It's not a big deal to me, I don't care about the record.
I doubt that Brandon is worried about what will work out better for him. His record doesn't seem to matter. He sounds like a smart fighter, and he want to fight the best. How could he feel ready for a title shot if he never at least fights Arlovski, the second best if not the best HW in the UFC. Brandon just seems like that type of fighter. He clearly said he doesn't want a title shot yet, so why would he call out Big Tim/Monson?

OK, think with me for a moment. Say you are Dana White. Brandon Vera destroys Frank Mir at 65 and grabs the mic from Joe Rogan. "Bring on Arlovski" he says.

Point 1......If Arlovski is the man and fights Brandon Vera.....what if Arlovski wins???

2......If Tim wins at 65, who will he fight next if not Vera????

3......This could set up Arlovski-Sylvia 4 which everyone is really DYING to see!

It just makes more sense all the way around for Vera to fight for the belt. You quoted his interview but in it he definitely states that he would not pass up a chance for the belt. Let him fight Arlovski after he wins the belt.

Vera said its someone he's been wanting to fight for a while now...my money's on Arlovski. Like he said in a previous interview, he's not interested in a title shot right now, though I think most of us agree that he could defeat Sylvia pretty handily. If he does fight Arlovski, that'll definitely be treated as a No. 1 contender's match.

I hope its Arlovski...if Vera challenges Chuck, that takes away even more depth from the HW division, a weight class that's already lacking. Unless Chuck decides to move up like he said he might after he destroys Tito.

Ok , so let me explain this to you. What we are talking about is “Who Brandon Vera will call out after the fight. We are in no way talking about “Who Dana White will tell Brandon Vera to call out.”.

We are going on the assumption that Brandon is his own man and will call out the fighter he actually wants to fight himself. This is not about what would work better for the UFC and Dana. This is not WWE, Dana and Brandon don't get together with writers and bookers and decide what will play out better on TV. Brandon himself said he will call someone out, so we are assuming that by what he said in his interview that I quoted. He doesn't want a title fight right now, but would be stupid to turn it down.

That is what he said, so why will he call out the champ then?
We are not talking about him passing up any chance to fight for the belt, we are talking about him calling someone out. Where did you get the idea that he was being offered a title shot after the fight? This has nothing to do with that at all.

Like I said before, from the way Brandon sounded, he wants to be at his best before he begins a title reign, so if that's the case then who else but Arlovski would be worth his time. If he beats Mir then logically Arlovski is next in line on his way to the top.

yeah i dont see vera calling aa for 1 reason, vera wins dana wont let him fight aa, aa is coming off 2 losses an has a fight in dec so that would mean vera would have to wait longer which is not somthing dana wants to do, i see if vera wins this he will be fighting within 3 months time, and i see it against probally tim, and saying that brandon dont care if he is the champion or not because he said he wants to chop one of his legs off,

AA is not the best heavyweight in ufc, tim beat him 2 times so that does not make him the best plus his chin is not very good, i would say 2nd maybe

AA is a more dangerous fight for Vera then Tim Sylvia is IMO, both have bad chins (AA and Sylvia) but AA has a lot more KO power, moves better, and has a sambo background.
