He fought Jon Fitch, a
huge 170 pounder who looked a full weight class bigger, is one of the top 3 wrestlers in the division, and had finished 4 of his last 5 fights and didn't get finished.
He fought Nick Diaz who was arguably already black belt level and who had finished 6 of his last 7 fights and didn't get finished.
He fought Karo Parisyan who had just qualified for a title shot at Matt Hughes' belt and didn't get finished.
He fought Joe Riggs who had recently beaten Nick Diaz and become the first guy to ever stop Chris Lytle and didn't get finished.
He fought Joe Stevenson who had finished 12 of his last 17 fights (with 2 of those being losses to Florian and Penn) and didn't get finished.
Not only was he not finished in any of those fights, and not only has he never been finished period, he has never been CLOSE to being in danger of being stopped. I mean never close. There are very few major-org fighters with more than maybe 10 fights that you can say that about.
Does BJ have the skills to stop Diego? Of course he does, he is the best 155 pounder in the world and has shredded all of his competition at lightweight since moving back down. His striking is more technical (less explosive though) and his grappling is better. But is it such a no brainer that he'll stop him that it's a "brave" prediction that he won't? Not a chance.
