I would much rather Pride go belly up then be associated with WWE.

Vince is surely going for Pride to get back at UFC stealing their US ratings from WWE in the 18-34 demographic.
Vince tried to buy Goldberg from UFC, forcing UFC to pay more.
Vince has tried to buy Ken Shamrock.
Vince sent Shane McMahon to watch Pride and they noted similarities between WWE introductions and Pride.
Vince is going to fuck Pride up...just to try and get back at UFC. :banghead:

I dont see why a select few are seeing this as a bad thing and would rather see Pride go belly up. Why not merge with WWE to secure ur companies financial needs. Vince already has his "entertainment" circus with WWE, what would be the point to do the same thing with Pride. Regarding Ken Shamrock... the rumors were false, ken stated in a recent interview that WWE and him never talked after he retired from the UFC. Shane McMahon was at a Pride event though. Anyways we dont even know if it was WWE that went to Pride or if it was Pride going to WWE in desperation. All in all this would be a good thing if Pride made it clear in negotiations they want to keep it legit.

I dont see how some of you see this as a bad thing or signs of desperation for Pride. WWE is a major company and Vince McMahon is always looking for new projects. Just because they meet, it doesnt mean they're going to turn Pride into a side show. This is a good chance for Vince to start making his mark in the MMA and I am all for it. If Vince throws his hat in, I can see him reaching deep into his pockets and maybe we will have one major MMA organization with all the best fighters. In any case, I guess we will have to wait and see.

If Vince McMahon ran a successful MMA promotion, it would be the first non-wrestling business he ran that wasn’t a failure.

As soon as they do 1 single WWE/Pride Event... UFC will look to take advantage and call Pride out as no longer a MMA organization. If Vince keeps them separate then it might work. |
not sure how it is a bad move as well..i think we all have the mindframe of since its WWE they are goign to make it fake...but if you own a business and you can get a partner that has money and willing to spend money almost all business men will defiantely jump at that chance..or atleast i know i would specially when you are trying to take down a rival just my opinion..i'm willing to let them do whatever they want if they can get some UFC guys to jump ship so i can finally see some match ups that i've wanted to see.

This isnt like Vince trying to start the XFL. Vince would merely be securing a foundation for Pride as well as giving them mass advertisements and revealing the organization to the mass fan base WWE already has across the world.

Considering how much of a control freak that Vince is, I just can't really see him being able to stay sane promoting an event that he has no control over the outcomes.

Do you guys really think Vince can keep his hands out of the Pride events?
I highly doubt it. I can already forsee him getting the mic and promoting WWE at pride, panning the cameras over at Pro-Wrestlers during Pride events and vice versa. Packing the commercials with WWE...
We will see how this works out, if it works out the way I see it...UFC should get some capital and try to steal the Pride Fighters.
