Sylvia over Monson
It's like Boone always says "I don't see Monson having much luck here. Liddell beat him just leg kicking him years ago, Pe De Pano gave him tons of trouble with nothing more than a jab and some leg kicks. Sylvia will have more to offer than a jab or some leg kicks."Monson hasn't even fought a striker for a long while!Sylvia will keep Monson at bay with a jab and win this fight.
GSP over Hughes
After watching Penn/Hughes II I completely agree with GSP I wasn't impressed with Matt's performance.GSP has better standup,is more agile and is more athletic.Everything else is pretty even.I say GSP takes this by 3rd round (T)KO
Mir over Vera
Mir first round armbar over Vera.Mir looked in shape at the weigh ins and he has something to prove in this fight.I'm not overly impressed with Vera and I don't think he'll make it out of the first.
Diaz over Gleison
Diaz will win this fight.I don't know exactly how it will end.
Ramirez over Irvin
Irvin has the better stand up ,but Ramirez is the better wrestler. This fight could go either way.
Stevenson over Mishima
Stevenson is stronger and a better wrestler so I could see him taking this fight ,but he really needs to work on his conditioning. If he gases in the 3rd Mishima could tap his ass out.
Pendergart over Hardonk
Two relative unkowns.I'm taking Pendergart ,b/c I think he's more well rounded.
Sakara over Mcfedries
This should be an easy win for Sakara. The UFC thought they'd give this kid a break.
Jake O'Brien Vs. Josh Schockman
This should be an exciting fight. Both relatively new to the sport and both are undefeated.I give a slight edge in a very exciting fight to Jake ,b/c he has more experience.

Sylvia vs Monson. Sylvia will KO Monson in the second round. After being unsuccessful with taking Tim down, Monson will get tired, and stand & trade.
GSP vs Hughes. I've got GSP by split decision. Hughes is resilient, and GSP won't make the same mistake twice. Should be a really fun fight.
Vera vs Mir. Mir will gas. Gas. Gas. Gas. Vera will capitalize. Capitalize. Capitalize. Capitalize.

Sylvia via Spinning Ogre Kick KO
But seriously, Monson is friggin strong. If I remember correctly, he was pushing Hinkle around, and Hinkle is 6'2" 235 according to fight finder. If Monson was smart, he would rush Sylvia right away and get him against the fence, grab a leg, and take him down. Sylvia is not quick enough to get out of the way of a full-speed Monson. He is also not going to unleash a flurry of punches on Monson as he comes in. He does not punch fast enough to do that. Monson may get caught and get knocked out, but he doesn't have the cardio to go 5 rounds with Sylvia anyway, so what does he have to lose? He doesn't even need to grab a leg...he can just latch on to Tim's leg with his whole body if he has to. That may sound stupid, but it would work. Everyone says Sylvia is slow, but Monson is pretty slow himself, so I really don't see him shooting for a leg in the middle of the ring and succeeding.
Everyone expects Monson to box a little and shoot. That is a death wish IMO and I really hope he doesn't do that. I can see him coming out, boxing a little, shooting a few times and getting denied, and gassing. Then comes the KO. But he doesn't have to fight like that and I hope he realizes it...that's how everyone is expecting him to fight...if he just bull rushes Sylvia from the start, he will catch Sylvia completely off-guard and most likely take him down because Sylvia is pretty clumsy...
Anyways, I'm rooting for Monson MONSON SMASH

Anyways, I'm rooting for Monson MONSON SMASH | I actually agree with this. A bull rush right from the door might catch Tim off guard. If he tries to throw something it would leave him wide open for a takedown, if he goes defensive then at least Monson will get inside. It's a worthy risk imo. If he doesn't then Tim will get set, get his feet right and be prepared for any takedown attempts while throwing out the jab. Hopefully he thought of this because i want this fight to go down at some point so we can see something that wasn't expected and maybe get a real competitive match, although if it goes there, i'm not sure if Tim will last long before he's subbed.

| What excuse will you use when Hughes wins tonight???
Just curious. What excuse do you guys plan on using for GSP tonight after Hughes wins? Do you have one already or will you make one up on the spot?
We've already seen numerous threads making excuses for Royce Gracie, BJ Penn, GSP fight 1, Frank Trigg x2, Carlos Newton x2 etc..
Either he is the luckiest hack to ever set foot in the ring, or you guys are just a bunch of cry baby haters.
So what will the excuses be tomorrow morning after another "controversial" Matt Hughes win???

There'll be no excuses on my part after GSP is the new WW champ.

As long as he doesn't get some freak injury like BJ did, I will make no excuses. I make no excuses for his loss to Matt the first time around...he got careless, gave the man too much respect, and paid for it. No one, however, can argue that GSP wasn't giving Matt a beating before that armbar.
When all is said and done, GSP IS the better fighter. Whether or not that fact will shine through tonight remains to be seen.
By the by, I also make no excuses for Newton or Trigg...Matt ran through them pretty handily. But if any two fighters have his number, they are GSP and Penn.
