sherk has some technically sound boxing, something you dont see in MMA very often. his technique is very clean, something a friend of mine who is an amateur boxer, commented on just seeing him in the Florian fight, where he didnt use much standup because of the torn rotator cuff

he doesnt really use it much because at 170, everyone had reach on him. i expect to see him standing much more often in the LW division

no but if you have crappy MMA standup you cant beat 4 different boxers no matter how bad they are, a crappy boxer still wouldnt have crappy standup in MMA if they atleast managed to get a pro boxing match. So Monson's stand-up cant be crappy.. hes just too short for it to be effective and comparing Monson to Marciano.. while it some terms isnt far-fetched (Marciano punched a 300 lb bag, Monson pushes around 600 lb tires.. both unheard of in prize fighting) its still insane cuz Marciano is a legend, Monson is just a good fighter.

the point i was making is that marciano had the shortest arm length of any heavyweight boxer ever. im not saying monson is a good boxer , cuz he isnt, but it is possible to work with short, stocky limbs and succeed. tyson was also pretty damn short for a heavyweight.
