I thought it was a great fight. Tim followed the game plan laid out to a "T".
Anyone hating on Sylvia before this fight who now doesn't respect his fighting ability, is completely biased and can't be impressed.
Sylvia gained alot of respect IMO....fought great on the ground, had some amazing sprawls and looked real good overall.........I would've liked to see more strikes on his feet.........but he sure as hell got the job done.

Seems to me like Tim aims not to lose a fight. You can take that as you will, I guess. Kind of a copout, if you ask me. I secretly think the UFC wants him to lose, haha. Arlovski would probably be a bigger draw by now.

Exactly, going in I could not stand Sylvia but he showed alot on the ground. The only complaint I have is that it seems as though since he won the title he fights not to lose, rather then go out and try to win. Lookng at other champions they seem to stay aggressive and go out to win, hopefully Tim will change his ways. All in all though Tim showed me alot tonight on the ground Quote: |

Tim sylvia in guard is pretty solid in respect to his arms being so long, he did more punishment then monson did.
That fight did suck monkey, only one good round, #3. Everything else was pretty much jab, shoot-sprawl, jab. Sylvia did fight like a jagoff, no confidence, any of the pride fighters would have been swinging to kill monson after the first round, but tim just jabbed. What a douche, i have a feeling this is going to be tim as champ.

He out fought the ground master at his own game.........everyone has been saying Sylvia is 1 dimentional....can only win on his feet via the punch 'cause he's so tall.......now the guy does some magic with his sprawls, and ground game and he still takes flack.........

Sylvia was not scared but extremely confident. Sylvia fought a very smart fight and I was very impressed with his defenses on the ground. Sylvia even attempted a few submissions. Sylvia showed that he is not as one-dimensional as people think. Maybe not one of the most exciting fights but still a good one.
