Don't believe everything you read...
Well, imagine my surprise when I open myspace last Thursday and am greated with many congrats of my recovery and upcoming fight. First thoughts were, "hmm... why didn't anybody tell me I was fighting?"
Through some friends and networking I've found my supposed interview. When I first heard of this I figured someone had found an old interview and reposted it. Now that I've read it, wow, this is just a blatant lie. It amazes me how some people have so little of a life that they will fabricate a fake interview of someone. Geeze. Get a life. Or at least do your research.
For the record, I'm not fighting in December. I don't know who Brock Larson is. And while I thank all for the condolences of my father, he passed about 4 years ago. Normally I wouldn't post something like this, but it's so crazy I can't help it. I had friends calling and wanting to know why I didn't fill them in! Even a coach asked about it!
So here's the "interview".

After being on a hiatus from the UFC and not fighting in almost a year, Nate "The Rock" Quarry returns to the octagon in December to take on fast rising youngster Brock Larson at UFC 66.
Recently BoxingInsider.com caught up with Quarry to talk about his fight, his personal life, and his long-awaited return to Mixed Martial-Arts.
BoxingInsider: First off Nate, tell our readers about your up-coming fight on December 30th.
Nate Quarry: I will be fighting Brock Larson. He's a young kid looking for his opportunity so you know he's going to come strong and fast.
Boxing Insider: Have you had any chance to study him at all during your training?
Nate Quarry: I saw his last few fights from Extreme Challenge and his fight last year with Jon Fitch. He's a tough fighter with a slick ground-game. He also never quits during any of his matches and has never been stopped in a fight.
BoxingInsider: Since you've took such a long break from MMA, do you think being non-active for the past year will have any effect on you for this fight?
Nate Quarry: No, but the last year has been rough though. I injured my back right after the fight with Rich, I wasn't healthy enough to fight until late August. But that's when my father passed away as well. So I've been dealing with a lot of issues lately, but I think I've got everything behind me now. (Wow! That's a pretty fast recovery from a spinal fusion! A month and a half after major surgery! I rule... I'm inserting here.)
BoxingInsider: Would you like another shot at the title or a chance to redeem your loss against Rich someday?
Nate Quarry: [Laughs] Oh I'd love that, but that won't be for a long time. I've just got to concentrate on my up-coming fight with Brock Larson, and then take it one fight at a time after that.
BoxingInsider: Well I wish you the best of luck in your up-coming fight in December. Would you like to say anything to your fans before we head out?
Nate Quarry: I would just like to thank all of my fans who have stuck with me and supported me the whole way. Stand strong. (And I would never say, "Stand strong." That just sounds lame. I would say "Fortitudine Vincimus" or something cool like that.)
Me again, as was the insert. Wow. Just goes to show you that the internet is one crazy place. I once recieved a friend request from Randy Couture. So I sent a message saying, hey Randy if this is you, gimme a call. I knew it was a fake but it was hilarious to see the wanker accuse me of not being me.
Now, more importantly, when am I fighting again? Will I fight again? Well, things are looking good right now. I'm getting stronger every day. Haven't been able to do any grappling but I'm lifting, doing a little cardio and hitting mitts with a new boxing coach. And of course I've got my coach Robert Follis helping to expand my game. And my girlfriend has been doing her best to keep me fed and keep me from going too far too fast. That is a task in itself. So.... Long story short... We'll see. Fortunately I've had some sponsors step up and make it possible for me to pay my bills in this tight time. Yok'd who's clothes rival that of Affliction. Metabolic Adaptation who have the most incredible supplements I've ever taken. And my boy Levi who watches out for me too.
So don't count me out. Not yet. I'll be back if just to show the world that with enough drive and determination, even a broken back can't keep you from following your dreams.
Rock

I actually remember this fake interview that was posted on a sherdog forum a few weeks back. I figured it was false bc the link the poster gave did not work and sure enough it was. The poster eventfully came back and started laughing at everyone saying he had gotten over on them. Seems like to me he was just a keyboard warrior with nothing better to do.
