Man here we go again with the injury bugs!!!
This has been a horrible year for them.
I was really looking forward to the rematch as I'm sure everyone was, but, I can't see how people get mad at Machida for this. It isn't his fault.
I mean it sucks but don't you want him to be 100 percent so there are no excuses? I still think he lost but man, give the guy a break, he didn't judge the fights and I can't think of many fighters who would admit to losing a close fight like that. He really did win under the judging specifications I think, he just lost under realistic judging specifications. Either way, not his fault.
Now Anderson Silva's comments, that he won EVERY round, that's a freaking joke. That's going a bit far.
Looks like we will have to wait for Machida to heal up before Shogun becomes champ...
Maybe they should give Shogun whoever gets better first, ANderson or Machida... Since Belfort doesn't seem to even want this fight? Freaking Twilight Zone these days in mma!

he didnt need surgery when he was smashing rashad with his fist....i guess he won then, since he needs surgery...which means all his punches were clean....

I'm not saying go interim crazy, but to have a interim fight between someone like Hendo and Nate, then instead of 3 it will be 5 rounds, and regardless of what happens, the winner gets a shot at the real champ, not some other random guy that the UFC just signs.
Another example is Swick and Hardy, it has been rumored, winner gets shot at GSP, only way to guaranty that is an interim belt. Say for example, the UFC signs Jake Shields, do you think Swick or Hardy will still be getting a shot?
I don't mind the interim champs, as long as the interim belt doesn't last for more than 6 months and as long as the real champ has to fight the interim champ his first fight back.

an interim belt basically means unlegit....i dont see a point in that....#1 contender is more appropriate....

Ask Dan Henderson how much #1 contendership means.

I dont see the UFC making Interm champion. No one is out of the fight game for that long. Its not like when Mir was hurt. BJ takes pretty long lay offs. I just think their going to push for contender fights, and super fights, which is ok with me.
Look got the winner of Randy/Vera, and Tito/Griffin to be looking for a title fight.

We will just have to wait longer to see Machida lose the rematch even more definitively...
After seeing this fight I really can't wait to see Machida fight Shogun again, or Luiz Cane, or Jon Jones. I think all guys would stylistically cause problems for Machida. Jones would need a couple more fights obviously but his speed, explosivness, and wrestling would be hard for Machida to deal with. I think Cane would do good cause he's got good crisp Muay thai like Shogun only I think he hits a little bit harder, and he's a tough motherfucker and he's like a stalker inside the cage. Either way, I don't see Machida defending the belt 2 more times. Hell, I don't see him beating Shogun in the rematch either to be honest...I see him losing just like the 1st fight...only a little bit more defenitive...but still by decesion.

that would be an absolute joke when you have Shogun, Cane, Lil Nog, and Thiago Silva in the same division. They have done way more as of late to deserve a shot. OH yeah and Jon Jones after he whoops Matt Hammil's ass.
...but then again...it doesn't take much to get a title shot nowadays, so you may be right.
