| Machida needs hand surgery, delays hopefull rematch with Shogun Rua Quote:
Lyoto Machida mentioned earlier this week that he had injured his hand during the Shogun fight, but he wasn’t sure if it needed surgery. Well, according to Dave Meltzer, the verdict is in, and unfortunately it looks like it does.
UFC officials have confirmed that Lyoto Machida will need surgery on one of his hands, thus delaying the planned middleweight championship rematch with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (18-4). Machida injured his hand during his controversial win over Rua during UFC 104 Saturday in Los Angeles.
White was hopeful to get the rematch in as soon as Jan. 2, when the company has one of its traditional major events of the year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Rua had agreed to the date, but Machida’s surgery eliminates whatever slim possibility there was that he would be fully recovered and ready in time for that date. Right now, it is not known when the fight would be able to take place.
Meltzer also mentioned that Anderson Silva is still recovering from his elbow surgery and the date of his middleweight title defense against Vitor Belfort is still up in the air.
Here’s to hoping for speedy recoveries and no further injuries during training.
| This is the source. Quote:
Machida's injury means that four of the five UFC champions are out of commission:
* Heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar: UFC 106 bout with Shane Carwin postponed until UFC 108 due to flu.
* Light heavyweight Champ Lyoto Machida: out for hand surgery, return date unknown.
* Middleweight champ Anderson Silva: out for elbow surgery, bout with Vitor Belfort remains unscheduled.
* Welterweight champ Georges St Pierre: torn abductor muscle, may be out until March 2010.
* Lighweight champ B.J. Penn: healthy will defend his title against Diego Sanchez at UFC 107.
The UFC has already had multiple fall cards hampered by injuries and disputes with fighters. They will have a lot of cards to fill in the winter and spring of 2010 and with 4/5 of their champs out of commission it won't be easy to do.
| I don't think UFC should declare any interim Champions because all these injuries don't look like it'll be for a long. Ride it out and lets get some interesting match-ups. It sucks because December will be the last title fight we see until about March/April of 2010.
Wow, January 2nd would have been awesome!!!
Superbowl Saturday I can live with if its not that much prolonged. (fingers crossed)
Man,.....FUCK YOU CECIL PEOPLES!

| It won't be that long that we have to wait for a title fight. If the Lesnar/Carwin fight is just pushed back to 108 and they both stay healthy that will still be the end of January beginning of February. Still too long to wait for that fight imo, but we still shouldn't miss too many PPV's without a title fight.

I dont think the UFC is going to let any of their big names rest. You have Hughes, Vitor, Nate, Cro Cop, Rich, Big Nog, and thats just to name a few. They are all going to be ready to fight. So, just match em up.
Nate vs Vitor
Big Nog vs Cain, or Mir/Kongo
Hughes vs Anyone
Rich vs Cro Cop( It could happen)
Their is enough to fill in the cards, I personally dont like cards without a title fight, I think its lame, but what can you do.
