Takada stated that niether Cro Cop or Barnett are at 100% and both understand that in order to stand a chance at defeating Fedor, you must be at 100%. Apparently Hunt was the only one willing but I think more of the fact that it is a good fight for their US event because Hunt is a striker and Fedor will stand and exchange to bait Hunt for the takedown adn then rape him on the ground. They could've gone with Werdum and I wouldn;t have minded a Fedor vs Kharitonov either.

It should still be an exciting fight, much better than Coleman and at least it is legit top 10 HW in the world.

dude,this shit is gonna be sick. I've actually been hoping for this in the back of my head. This will most likely stay on the feet. I almost wanna see this fight more than CC/fedor cause fedor hasn't fought mark hunt. this is not a rematch. This shit is gonna be really badass. lame ass chuck/tito rematch or fedor vs. hunt? hhhmmmmm. I know which one I'm gonna be watching new years eve. god! this is gonna be really hard for fedor but I think he can still pull it off.

see this is where mma gets wierd. barnett could not beat fedor ever. hunt has a decent chance at this but if hunt wins. barnett can get a title shot and beat hunt and win the belt. but then CC would beat barnett. ooooooooo! wouldn't hunt vs CC be sick too. is my logic right? what do you guys think.

I think it will go to decision in favor of fedor. neither one is getting KOed and I don't see fedor being to desparate for a take down, might get one or two but hunt is just so huge. I think fe dor's game plan will be similar to his game plan against crocop. stand with him but never necessarily LOOKING for the take down because both are difficult to get to the ground.

Hunt already defeated Cro Cop.

And Barnett would have a legit chance at beating fedor, he and Cro Cop are the only 2 HW I see with a legit shot at actually defeating Fedor.

Cro Cop has the best takedown defense in MMA and if he does go down, his guard is great because his legs are the size of tree trunks and he has great grip strength. His striking is the best in MMA as he has so many weapons.

Barnett is a very even matchup with Fedor in terms of skill. Barnett stood with Rizzo when Rizzo was in his prime and melting everyone he faced in terms of striking, Barnett also stood with Aleks, Big Nog and Cro Cop and landed some nice punches and leg kicks against Cro Cop in the OWGP finals after having a 15 minute wasr with Big Nog so there was very little in the tank at that point. Therefore Barnett can stand with Fedor and would fair decent, on the ground they are both phenomenal with wrestling and submissions. I am not sure what Fedor would want to do but I would not at all be surprised if he tried to keep the fight standing as he would have the advantage in quickness.

Hunt and Fedor if standing would be an excellent matchup but Fedor would be so superrior on the ground and Fedor always has the best gameplan goign into a fight and adapts exceptionally well to any situation, I am sure he will look to throw the right hook to bait Hunt for a takedown or just wait for Hunt to strike and counter it with a a few punches and a takedown.

Even if Fedor is geting dominating standup he will still look to do the sme thing he did to Cro Cop which is wear him down in the 1st round, make him work very hard and then take him to the ground in rounds 2 and 3 and continue to wear him down and punish him. Hunt guard is not going to be anywhere near Cro Cop's so Hunt will be punished in the ground.

Cro Cop vs Hunt already happened in both K-1 and PRIDE. Cro Cop beat Mark Hunt in K-1 via unanimous decision. Hunt beat Cro Cop in PRIDE via split decision.

As for Barnett not beating Fedor ever, I think you are underestimating Barnett's skills. He's the #3 HW in the world right now, and has some of the best wrestling and submission skills for a man his size. His stand up isn't too shabby either. As of right now I'd say he or Mirko are the only 2 that has a chance against Fedor.

This Hunt vs Fedor fight is set up because Mirko is recovering from surgery right now, so he isn't 100% to fight Fedor right now as dagreat1 said. Barnett fought 3 times in less than 2 months already this year, and isn't really ready for a fight against Fedor either. Both Barnett and Cro Cop are supposed to fight on NYE, just against lesser opponents. Mirko will get his shot at the title most likely in February at PRIDE 33.
