| Tito's Future?
After Tito's loss this weekend where do you see him headed in the UFC? He says he will be the champ again, but has the sport evolved to a point where a gnp grinder like him can string together 4-5 wins in a row against quality opponents? One thing is certain Tito will always be able to sell a fight. His personality is overwhelming and he is great for the TUF show but at his age does he want to tie up the amount of time necessary to coach an upcoming season? And most importantly will his body hold up to training? I think the last time he was healty Ricco Rodriquez had the title.

Tito could not go 5 rounds in his current form. When he was god-like, he had the cardio to match his explosive style. He went to shit once he could no longer keep up with himself. Unless he dedicates himself to fixing this problem, then I don't see him hitting top contendership.

I am not convinced his back is healed. That may have made him cautious in training and he probably under trained for this fight. I think down the line they will put Tito and Chuck back in the octagon simply because it fills a ppv date with a solid 1M buys.
His next fight will be against Forrest and after that he will be fed a name I think. I wouldn't mind seeing him against Randy again.

The one thing about tito is you never know if he is making up excuses just because he lost. Tito is a perfect hype guy. could all that talk about the surgery making him way better than he ever was just hype for his return or did he just have octagon rust? I mean shogun wasn't at top notch when he came back after his long layoff from the griffin fight to the coleman fight but showed a dramatic improvement when he came to fight chuck. Maybe the same will happen for tito, but him and shogun are 2 different types of fighters also. I think this lose and performance will make tito step his game up and train harder for his next fight.

Ya know if you look back at his older fights when he was on his hot streak he literally ran through guys. None of this I'm gonna feel out my opponent for the first few minutes and trade striking pitter patter bs. He was rush in, shoot, posture, gnp with power, finish. I think the strategy can still work in the current generation of mma but if that is your strategy you have to follow it to a T, especially when you go against a fighter who's striking and reach is better than yours. Sadly Tito is falling into the same trap Matt Hughes ran into. Trying to stand and trade with opponents who are better strikers and have longer reach than you, for too long, getting beat up and slightly gassed and then you get to the point where you don't have the explosion left for your bread and butter takedowns and slams. Same deal with Rampage come to think of it. These guys are good if they stick to what made them who they are today and not trying to change it up. The old saying of, if it's not broke don't fix it comes to mind.

Tito will perform better next fight. An 18 month layoff from fighting and back surgery to boot. Of course he'll be rusty. I don't know how that orbital frature or whatever he was talking about effected him.
I realize tito wasn't a very fast striker to begin with but his hands looks really slow in the fight. But for tito not to throw any punches in the third...cardio? Rust? whateve He'll be way better next fight.

tito will come back and do well , he looked really good last night i thought he won the first two rounds, i mean he hasnt fought in a year and a half and beat a top 5 lhw for two rounds, i thought he won the fight, just another reason why you can never put your fate in the judges hands

Tito looked very good at times. Just needs to be able to sustain that pace. Also whatever is causing him to be so cautious about letting his hands go (maybe the skull injury) he needs to handle that. But I think hes solid enough. Maybe not title contender but he can give most anyone a run, even when hes hurt (i thought he won last night).
And funny you mention Ricco Rodriguez. I'd like to see him get another opportunity in the UFC because IMO hes still arguably the linear heavyweight champ. Remember he lost to Tim Sylvia who was busted for steroids in his very next match. Far as i'm concerned, if you are stripped of the title for cheating, it reverts back to the previous champion. I dont understand this putting two random guys to fight for it, including the aforementioned cheater. Its not fair and it kills the linearity.

Tito is average by todays standard. He lost that fight - the third round was embarrasing.
His excuses are championship level though.
