| Shane buying part of UFC? Quote: -- Rajah.com -- WWE News, Rumors, Results & InformationShane McMahon Looking To Buy Part Of UFC
We've been covering the story that Shane McMahon recently met with officials from the Ultimate Fighting Championships mixed martial arts organization. UFC President Dana White confirmed that he met with McMahon, but would not give further details regarding the nature of the meeting.
Shane McMahon is reportedly looking to buy a financial interest in UFC, according to a report on PWTorch.com.
McMahon, who currently servces as WWE's Vice President of Global Media, will officially leave the company on January 1, 2010.
With his extensive knowledge of marketing and expanding a sports brand into new markets, McMahon could be a big asset to the UFC
| For a wrestling news site, this is about as legit as it gets... Still doesn't say much but hey, take it for what it's worth.
Knowing Shane, I actually do believe this. He has been an MMA fan for a long time. Jumping off the sinking ship (wwe) is a great move on his part. Shane's no dummy!

i wouldn't call the WWE a sinking ship but yes, a smart move on both parties if it did happen.

Kinda seems like a G-rated porn at the moment.

The UFC stated they wanted to sell some of the company, so why not to Shane? His family know how to sell product, and I am sure hes learnt some tricks from papa mcmahon.

+ "IF" somehow they agreed to bring top WWE stars into UFC, now we'll have heavyweight/Brock x 20 = Tiny UFC share + Loads of $$$ + WWE stars fighting in the UFC...
It's possible.

When the WWE ditched the attitude era and went back to being G rated is when it started sinking. I mean, they still do some raunchy shit, but it's almost like they don't know what to be these days. A family show? Or a mature adult show?
The thing about catering to adults is that adults are the ones who buy tickets. Wrestling will never completely die out. Sure a lot of wrestling fans have jumped ship to MMA. BUT they still have their loyal fans.
MMA is just a new business venture and a smart one to get into if you're in the business. If I were Shane I would want a piece of the MMA pie as well. The profits the UFC makes is sickening. Largest growing sport in the world. You would think the WWE would have jumped at buying PRIDE. That would have been a good business move by the WWE because the WWE is highly respected in Japan. Also I know the WWE would have kept PRIDE afloat. It just kinda sucks that Shane wasn't backed up when he wanted to purchase PRIDE with Vince and Linda. Instead of having your own piece of MMA pie, he has to share it with Zuffa.
