| Poll: Liddell vs. Ortiz III
I suppose under the circumstances this is the best they could do, but why would we want to see a third fight between these two? Chuck's already taken out Tito twice, and its not like either fight was close. Liddell is on the way out, fight-wise, and Tito didn't look like he'd sufficiently "healed" in his rematch with Forrest. Is Dana REALLY this determined to send Chuck off with a win?
Discuss.

| Liddell returns opposite tito as tuf 11 coaches - LIDDELL RETURNS OPPOSITE TITO AS TUF 11 COACHES- MMA WEEKLY - Mixed Martial Arts & UFC News, Photos, Rankings & more
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Quote:
As the tenth season of “The Ultimate Fighter" came to a close on Saturday night, the next pair of coaches for the reality show were set. Two former light heavyweight champions will square off when "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz and Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell take on the task of teaching the newest crop of UFC hopefuls on season 11.
Ortiz and Liddell have each taken a turn at the coaching wheel before. Ortiz coached opposite Ken Shamrock in season 3, while Liddell was one of the original coaches in the inaugural season of the show.
At the end of the season, Liddell and Ortiz will face off in a third bout between the two legendary fighters. Liddell won the two previous contests, both times by TKO.
Ortiz made his return to the UFC in November, dropping a split decision loss to Forrest Griffin. Liddell has been out of action since April when he lost by TKO to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. It was long believed that Liddell could face retirement, but his fire has never faded and he will instead come back to face his arch-rival for a third time.
Middleweight and light heavyweights will be the weight classes facing off in the eleventh season of the show, the same weight classes Ortiz coached during season 3.
Filming for The Ultimate Fighter season 11 is expected to begin in January with the series debut in April on Spike TV

Cool....I guess? If this is going to be Chuck's farewell match, kind of an odd choice. I would have figured Tito would have gotten the loser of Coleman/Randy. At least the build up for the fight will be good, and the season should be entertaining. I figured everyone already knew this, but I wanted to start the thread to get some discussion going. Thoughts?

Haha my mistake, I started the other thread right after this one went up I guess. Merge or whatever you want to do mods.
At any rate, I picked good idea, only because I don't think it's a bad one. Like I said, the build up for this fight will be good, and the season should be entertaining. Could they have come up with better matchups? Yes. I would have rather seen Tito get the loser of Randy/Coleman and I think Chuck vs. Kimbo would have been HUGE. But at the same time, this matchup doesn't bother me.

I voted "bad idea".
Not so much a bad idea, but just basically pointless. The UFC is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this fight.
Tito and Chuck aren't totally yesterday's news - they can still compete with probably half of the top 20 or so LHW's in the world - but a third fight with each other, after Liddell convincingly won the first two, is just silly.
Plus, some of these sequels are starting to get seriously old. After this fight, Ortiz will have spent fully 1/3rd of his 24 career fights in a 2-parter (which is likely to become a trilogy somewhere down the line) with Forrest and two trilogies with Ken Shamrock and Chuck Liddell. Chuck has already had a trilogy with Randy (which, however, was great) and now will have a pointless trilogy with Tito after dominating him twice. They gave Rampage a rematch with Wanderlei Silva after Silva destroyed him twice (with 0 losses) in PRIDE. Hughes got a third fight with GSP when, although the score stood at 1 fight apiece, it was well clear that the old Matt Hughes was gone, the long-reigning champ GSP had arrived and that Hughes was going to get crushed.
Why not throw away all common sense and give us Hughes-Trigg III and Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin III - possibly on the same card? Maybe they can sign Sakuraba and give us Wandy vs. Sakuraba IV for the main event.

I'd rather six weeks cutting apples in half and watching the inside turn brown.

Those of us who choose to watch will have to decide which is worse...Tito's lame smack talk,or trying to figure out what the hell Chuck just said.I think this is being done solely to send Chuck off with a win,and it sucks.
Would have rather had Forrest coach opposite. At least they are 1-1.
My favorite was when Dana said..."and I think the fans really wanna see these two go at it again..."Really?...REALLY?

I think it is fucking retarded and once again shows the ufc is running out of options to sell fights. Who the fuck wants to see this shit again, especially when the main reason is because they are saying tito never fought him at 100%. Well if i remember, he was just thowing out the most complaints ever about how he needs back surgery again and blah blah blah. I hope they end each others careers at the same time.

I have no interest in this at all. When Dana made the annoucement I slumped down a little further in my easy chair, put two hands over my face and let out a huge sigh in disapointment. Especially, when Dana made the statment that people want to see Chuck v Tito 3.
Who are these people and why do they want to see this fight? Neither of the first two fights were even close so what is the point. Also, Tito's plea to be a coach on the next Ultimate Fighter is only attempt to remain relevant while his fighting ability is on the decline.
The bad boy persona only works when a fighter can back it up, but when that fighters skills deminish a more humble Tito would be more marketable. Now his persona is just an annoyance and I have no interest in following anything Tito does.

This is a bad idea for so many reasons. All of the previous mentioned points are right on and one thing no one is mentioning is that Chuck has been away for a while now and setting him up as a TUF coach guarantees he does not fight for a long time still. Same goes for Tito. I know he has injuries that need to heal but lets face it they will never be healed. Now you have two guys who can sell a fight against other people locked in for a year to fight each other in a fight we have already seen 2x before. Yawn.

Ugh...this is just pathetic. On the plus side, tho, there was a rumor that GSP and Hardy wouldve been TUF coaches. Could you imagine how much it wouldve sucked to have the WW belt not defended for another few months??
UFC is better keeping their champs away from coaching, but cmon....they couldve easily done better than this...
