Default Why did Diaz make more than Monson

I was just looking at that payscale and i saw that nick got 24k and monson only got 13....how exactly does that work. Monson was in a title fight and Diaz didnt even make the ppv....Im all about Diaz but I was still wondering.

If that's true then its pretty shitty. I'm sure Monson probably got a cut of the PPV buys though but anyone in the co-feature title bout should make more than a prelim. in my opinion. Don't get me wrong though. I think I would rather watch Diaz fight!

because the fighters signed the contracts before hand. It's not like they are on a fight to fight salary. They usually sign 3 fight deals for certain ammounts. I

Yeah, but I thought that they received a bonus for title fights. I'm probably wrong though. Not like it would be the first time! LOL

Monson in the co-main event made way more sponsorship wise then Diaz did in a nontelevised prelim.

If you remember, the fight that earned monson a title shot was a preliminary bout. I don't have a problem with Monson at all, but the pay seems about right to me. Diaz is much more of a name than Monson and has had many more appearances.

I imagine it would work like something along these lines.

The base salary for the fight being an x amount of money, with an additional whatever for a win/loss.

Example:

$15,000 base fight salary. An additional $4,000 for the win. An additional $1,000 for the loss.

I may very well be wrong, but that would make sense to me.

your pay is doubled if you win. If you're offered 10k to fight, and you win then you get 20k total. Monson was offered 13k to fight. Diaz was offered 12k to fight. Diaz won his fight so his pay was doubled.
