Default New Dos Santos Interview

Quote:

too much to translate so im mention the main things..
Says that the first phase of the training was with Minotouro for his fight and than for his

He is very focus on Yvel. Has been watching his fights to understand what he does and prepare for that. That saturday was his last sparing and that he is ready already.

Says that that he will keep it standing to involve his boxing but he is well trained and ready to go anywhere for the fight.

The ufc wanted to get Yvel and since everyone was out injured or already had a fight chedule they put Yvel agianst him which surprised him but he never worries about his opponent but what he can do in the fight and worry about his will and fight and that like every fight he will give his all.

Says he doesn't think its fair that mir vs carwin are fighting for the interim title that Big Nog was suppose to get his shot but since MMA doesn't follow a ranking, we have to go by what the UFC decides.

Should be a good fight against Mir and Carwin and thinks that it should happen the same with mir vs congo, if its standing Carwin has more chances but if it goes to the ground, Mir has more chances. And that he has no favorites(laughs).

I don't think cigano gets the respect he deserves. I always hear people talking bout Carwin and Cain, but Cigano has more impressive wins then those two. Hope he destroys Yvel.
I do have a question as to why his nickname is Cigano, doesn't it mean gypsie? Seems like a strange nickname for a fighter.

Am I the only one that sees Junior as the Houston Alexander of the HW division? He came in against a guy that wasn't taking him seriously and KO'd him.
It's too bad the UFC won't try harder to keep some gatekeepers around for the HW division, because guys like Herring, Arlovski, and (gasp) Sylvia would be perfect tests for the new breed.
Right now I think the only good measuring stick they use is Gonzaga, but beating him apparently makes you top 5 automatically so they obviously need more than just him. Rothwell could've been one but after the thrashing he got by Cain its going to be hard to get casual fans to consider him a threat against anyone else they've heard of.

Cigano indeed is Gypsie. maybe he has this nickname because at a very young age he began to move from city to city.

yes it does but he got that because when he first walked in to start doing jiu jitsu he was big and had really really long hair like this actor from a soap opera in brasil.

He said he'd keep it standing to use his boxing, but I think once he gets a taste of Yvel's stand up he's gonna be shooting right away.
I think Dos Santos is gonna take it, but I'd love to see Yvel whoop his ass & become a threat to the heavies.

I think Junior will take Yvel. He has speed and power. Hopefully the fight will be more competitive then I expect it to be.

Dos Santos has very fast hands, I think he will handle Yvel anywhere the fight goes. He is definitely underrated as a UFC HW, I think he should be right up there with Carwin and Velasquez but for some reason he does not get as much noise. I also agree that it's kind of BS that Mir is getting the fight for the interim belt after 1 fight, but its not like Nogueira is in a better position either.

JDS is the real deal. Your are crazy as hell if you think other wise. Is ground game (BJJ Blackbelt) is getting even better working with Nog. Plus he 8is a GREAT striker. JDS could have the belt one day and then you will say " Iknew he was great"
