| Goodridge vs. Mousasi official; Kim replaces Sandro to finalize "Dynamite!! 2009" Quote:
Only in Japan does matchmaking continue basically up until the match.
That said, Japanese officials earlier today finally announced that MMA legend Gary Goodridge (23-19-1) meets rising star Gegard Mousasi (27-2-1) at "Dynamite!! 2009," while Korean Jong Man Kim (21-10-3) has agreed to fill in on short notice for an injured Marlon Sandro and face Hideo Tokoro (25-21-1).
As MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) first reported on Monday, Goodridge vs. Mousasi will be conducted under MMA rules.
Featuring a main event between Japanese judokas Satoshi Ishii and Hidehiko Yoshida, "Dynamite!! 2009" takes place this Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The event, which features both MMA and K-1 bouts, airs live on HDNet (3 a.m. ET).
Goodridge seeks to snap a four-fight losing streak. "Big Daddy" fought most recently in November 2008 and was submitted by Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem in a bout contested in The Netherlands' Ultimate Glory promotion.
Goodridge has also dropped bouts to Paul Buentello, Terroll Dees and Mu Bae Choi during his current stretch.
Meanwhile, Mousasi enters the bout on a 14-fight winning streak. That stretch includes Mousasi's successful run in the 2008 DREAM middleweight grand prix. The 24-year-old later vacated that title in order to make a move to the light heavyweight division, and Mousasi quickly claimed Strikeforce's light heavyweight title with a 60-second win over Renato "Babalu" Sobral in August.
After opening his career with an impressive 17-2 mark, Kim has struggled in recent outings. Kim has earned just one victory in his past 11 contests – a split-decision earned over Hatsu Hioki in October 2007. The sour stretch does include three draws.
With the last-minute changes, the full "Dynamite!! 2009" card includes:
* Masato vs. Andy Souwer (K-1)
* Gary Goodridge vs. Gegard Mousasi (MMA)
* Satoshi Ishii vs. Hidehiko Yoshida (MMA)
* Melvin Manhoef vs. Kazuo Misaki (MMA)
* Shinya Aoki vs. Mizuto Hirota (MMA)
* Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Kazunori Yokota (MMA)
* Masanori Kanehara vs. Norofumi "Kid" Yamamoto (MMA)
* Akihiro Gono vs. Hayato "Mach" Sakurai (MMA)
* Hiroshi Izumi vs. Katsuyori Shibata (MMA)
* Jong Man Kim vs. Hideo Tokoro (MMA)
* Michihiro Omigawa vs. Hiroyuki Takaya (MMA)
* Kazuyuki Fujita vs. Alistair Overeem (MMA)
* Yosuke Nishijima vs. Ray Sefo (K-1)
* Ikuhisa Minowa vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (MMA/"Super Hulk" finale)
* Hiroya vs. Masaaki Noiri (K-1 KOSHIEN semifinal)
* Katsuki Ishida vs. Shota Shimada (K-1 KOSHIEN semifinal)
* Hiroya/Noiri winner vs. Ishida/Shimada winner (K-1 KOSHIEN final)

Amazing how they put top ranked people in with fighters who were medium ranked 10 years ago and have fallen off severely.
Please next time someone tells me I hug UFC's nuts, explain why this is better.

If the only fight your looking at is Mousasi/Goodridge, then ya it looks like a bad card, but the rest is pretty solid. Ishii is getting hyped as the next big thing in Japan, and thats why his MMA debut is the main event. Gono/Sakurai will be a great fight, and there are tons of big names throughout the card. It looks pretty solid to me.

Kinda like when Dream had AO vs. Thompson... WAIT LOL. AO vs. Fujita?
Okay, people seem to think AO has credibility in Japan. Why do they keep giving him non-contenders. I like Fujita but out of his last 6 fights, he won 2... BTW, Gary Goodridge was also one of AO's last opponents. I'm just sayin....
I'm just sayin... this is a card that you could take fights OFF and make it better! LOL.
Here's what I'm looking forward to:
* Melvin Manhoef vs. Kazuo Misaki (MMA)
* Shinya Aoki vs. Mizuto Hirota (MMA)
* Masanori Kanehara vs. Norofumi "Kid" Yamamoto (MMA)
* Akihiro Gono vs. Hayato "Mach" Sakurai (MMA)
One day I will be able to pronounce all of their names.

If it would be an averadge Dream event, the card is good. But for NYE I dont like it.
No one single freak show???? Where is Bob Sapp? Where is Choi? Where is Kinnikuman?
I would prefer to watch Overeem vs Moussasi in K-1 rules, that would have been an awesome match.
Compare the 2008, 2007,2006 and 2005 NYE edition with this. Big Big difference.
Now that K-1/Sengoku/Dream/Strikeforce are an alliance they can put epic cards, just like Pride did, I hope for 2010 we will have cards like these.
