I dont like it becuz of the fact im a huge fan of GSP the martial artist. I honestly dont feel he would medal and who knows what would happen to him fighting wise.. would he come back and just keep trying to take ppl down and GNP them?? His striking is incredible right now. he just chooses to use his takedown a lot. It would hurt fans of mma... they would need 2 or 3 ultimate fighter shows for WW to maybe put some depth back in that division if he does leave.

I think this would be a good experience for GSP, it would mix things up in the UFC, and if by some chance he did make the team I'd guess that it would mean more exposure for the UFC and MMA as a whole.

I think he should go for it. What does he really have to lose by trying? The guy is easily a millionaire by now and unless he was irresponsible with his money he should be sitting on a nice nest egg that he can use while he trains. At worst he wont qualify and be back in the UFC after a year or so. Besides, it's not like there are so many contenders at WW waiting for him. He's already cleared out the division.
And as far as i know his UFC contract does not allow him to compete in other sports while he remains with the UFC. By retiring and dropping the belt he can go to the olympics since he will be retired from MMA.
Can you imagine who the new WW champ could be if GSP does retire? I hear BJ is looking for a second belt |

Oh god PLEASE GO! Then BJ can move up and the WW and LW divisions can be competitive again on title shots! I mean, is Dan Hardy really going to beat GSP? LOL. What's the point!
Then, when he comes back, it should be at MW.

I can absolutly see Dana White giving GSP at least the opportunity to make the olympic squad. If he makes the team, Gsp will give up the belt. If not, byu that time there will be a difinative WW contender.

It could mean more exposure for wrestling and the Canadian Olympic team. I think he has a legitmate shot because he is a good wrestler and the Canadian team is horrible. They haven't even had a single wrestler make it past the qualifying round for the past 3 Olympics.

I like the way he approches things. I mean if he wants to go who can stop him?
But even tho he's an exceptional athlete I can't see him make it far enough into the olympics for it to be relevant. I mean life's a bitch, people just love succes stories but not so much "oh well at least he tried" stories. So no I dont believe it will do anything for MAA.
As for the WW division... I mean come on who does not see Peen being champ when GSP comes back? Now that would be great for MMA: You got a dude ruling over two divisions and the undisputed WW king making a long awaited return.
And as great as that scenario might be, I dont feel like waiting a year and a half for it. The fight fan in me wants GSP to stay.
