Default Stout feels he broke lauzon's spirit to get win

- STOUT FEELS HE BROKE LAUZON'S SPIRIT TO GET WIN- MMA WEEKLY - Mixed Martial Arts & UFC News, Photos, Rankings & more

Quote:
What makes a great fighter isn't always the titles on the mantle or the slot they hold down in the Top 10. What sometimes makes a fighter great is the amount of support they are shown by the fans, and that's exactly the greeting Sam Stout got on Saturday night as he put on a fantastic show against Joe Lauzon in the bout that was deemed UFC 108 "Fight of the Night."

Sam Stout may be a smart guy, but he obviously doesn't understand the meaning of the word "boring" as he pushed the pace in all three rounds en route to a unanimous decision. After avoiding a submission in the first round, Stout proceeded to punish Lauzon from head to toe, putting on a stand-up clinic.

"I felt like I was going to come in bigger and stronger, and I think that showed in the fight," Stout told MMAWeekly.com following the victory. "(He) was having a very difficult time taking me down, and I was throwing him around a little bit, imposing my weight and my strength on him and I felt better coming into this fight than I ever have."

Channeling his inner Bas Rutten, Stout threw body shot after body shot that left a nasty welt on Lauzon's mid-section. The Canadian fighter believes it was that and a few other moments that ultimately broke his opponent's will in the fight.

"He knew he couldn't stand with me, so shutting down his takedowns was all I really needed to do to break his spirit, and once his game plan, once he realized it wasn't going to work, what's he going to do?" he commented.

A title shot may not be on tap, but Stout knows he carries the support of the fans, evident by the loud roar he received from the Las Vegas fans, and he says that's what makes it all worth it.

"I love hearing the fans cheer for me, I love putting on exciting fights," said Stout. "The fans are who I do it for.”

I've always been a huge supporter of Stout and am really high on his technique and striking prowess, but I think a part of that performance can be chocked up to Lauzon coming in completely flat and just not offering anything. Those surgeries REALLY looked to have taken a toll on him and I don't think he was ready to comeback into a fight with that style of fighter, who pushes THAT pace.

I could REALLY see a Stout/Fisher III in the very near future. Guillard or Huerta would be DYNAMITE bouts too.

Man I've always loved Stout. I know he'll never be the champ but the guy puts on exciting fights. I want to see him in there with a Bang Ludwig, Ross Pearson or even Uno next then let us have a trilogy with Fisher. Him and Fisher always have classics.

Stout vs Pearson sounds good to me. I'd be pissed if I was Stout and ended up fighting Bang or Uno after a fight like that, those matchups dont make sense to me. Stout vs Gomi = WAR
