| Roy 'Big Country' Nelson's next fight? Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson Is Eager To Return To The Octagon : FIGHTOFTHENIGHT.COM
After his KO over Schaub, what HW fighter would you place him in the cage with for his next fight? He says he wants to fight at 112 with Renzo, who he received his BJJ black belt from. Id like to see him fight winner of Mirko/Rothwell if theres no serious injuries to the winner, or maybe Buentello or Barry? Struve? (haha...) Who do you got for Big Country??

If they gave him Struve, I think he would get submitted pretty easily. Berry or Hardonk would be a good choice, good fighters, decen stand-up and no ground game.

imo (from the tuf show) I think dana wants to bury this guy.
So going to go with JDS,
Dos Santos will crush him, and leave him laying like a beached whale.
But if somehow Big Country wins, he's on his way up the ladder

Big Country vs Cheick Kongo
Pretty good matchup I think, really give Roy a test to see if hes as good as he thinks he is. Kongo needs to rebound from the Mir loss and Roy would be a perfect opponent. IMO Kongo is good enough on the ground to hold his own against Roy and would have the edge standing up. Would be a kickass matchup to headline a free card on Spike. Put Kimbo vs James Toney on it an you got yourself a banger of a card.

I don't know....I have this weird hunch (perhaps a gut feeling ) that Roy will be able to pull off some surprise victories. I think Nelson is a horrible matchup for Struve. I really don't see Struve having enough mass in his torso to handle Nelson. Being really tall against a really fat guy isn't an advantage. Buentello would be a good match up as he's got some more central mass on him compared to Struve.
Maybe give Roy Kongo next? Kongo is a good enough name that the UFC can at least get some payout on the six figures they now have invested in Roy. I don't think Dana wants to have another TUF winner fizzle out ala Mac Danzig.
Rothwell should be an eventual match for Nelson to avenge a previous loss provided they both win a fight or two.

I thought Big Roy was a BJJ Black Belt..... or was it brown? Either way he'll be a tough guy on the ground for anyone he fights, given how well he uses his weight and body position, and he has shown he can take a punch and give one out. I think Rothwell, Kongo, or the Head Hunter would be good fights for is next go around.

roy is a black belt in BJJ. His ground game is no joke. He took down AA and had side control going for a kimura, and AA is a sambo champion. But Struve can sub anyone, hes so lanky, his legs would go up, and then up some more, even if you tried to pull out of it. Nelson gets Paul or Berry, for a easy win. UFC needs to make sure he sticks around, they did a TUF HW for more HW prospects, not to bury the burger king champion.

I think you guys aren't giving him his due. He's gonna surprise a loooooot of people in the next year, I promise. Give him Kongo. Big Country will destroy him in the first round, and then everybody is gonna have to buy a ticket for his bandwagon. I'm taking preorders now.
