| SPOILER: UFN 20's implications on the LW contender
Not for a rematch with GSP (atleast not right away), but who's really interested in a fight with Maynard? I think BJ has everything on Gray except wrestling but I doubt Gray would be able to take BJ down in the later rounds anyway because BJ has BETTER cardio! Not interested in this fight at all! Although it would be good for BJ's legacy to have a few more title defences at lw, he's really head and shoulders above everyone in the UFC's lw divisoin, and I wouldn't blame BJ one bit for staying at lw. But speaking as a fan there are just so many fights that are interesting for him at ww ie, Hughes rematch, Kos, Fitch , Alves etc.
If Gomi wins a fight or two at lw there will be a demand to see a rematch with BJ, but until then I just don't see any big fights for BJ at lw in the UFC.

Agreed. BJ has nothing at LW. I think everyone moving up a weight class would be best. BJ up to WW, GSP up to MW, and Anderson in LHW. I know Anderson and Machida wont fight, which is fine. But if Rua beats Machida, then why the fuck not. Also Machida's own father has stated they should fight. I think Anderson's last two fights should be GSP then Machida.
But more on BJ, he would destroy Maynard, and Edgar. Edgar is to small, and Maynard just isnt good enough. His wrestling might be strong enough to take BJ down, but then what?Maynard is like a lesser Sherk, and BJ killed Sherk.

Gray stood up with Diaz bc he knew Nate throws the jab and paws and didn't feel threatend by his power. BJ will pick Gray apart, especially if he's throwing those ugly overhands. Maybe the Edgar fight would be a little bit more competitive because Frankie is a little bit more technical with his punches, but same result. And you have to think the powers to be will give Maynard the fight over Edgar for the W he has over him.

I really see no one having a chance of beating BJ at lightweight across any organization.

Maynard just did not impress tonight. If he can't out strike diaz who is known solely for his ground game then BJ is going to rip his face off and then lick maynard's blood from his gloves.

Agreed. UFC have some trouble putting together any decent matches for the LW title at the moment.
Maybe through in Gomi vs Maynard and see whether Gomi can pick up the V and move straight into a title shot.
It's the only interesting fight at LW for the moment.

A bit off topic but out of curiosity, what are the chances that SIlva and Machida could switch divisions? Just a thought....
Maynard vs. B.J...... does anybody want to see this fight? Does that fight really interest anybody? My biggest worry is that BJ might start half assing it again and Gray could catch him by surprise, though I doubt it.

Like anyone that has two eyes, I can see that Maynard doesn't have a very good chance of beating BJ. But come on, the dude has beat his last seven opponents. Maybe not in the most impressive fashion, but he's paid his dues.
I think he deserves the chance the fight for the title if he wants too. It really does suck that there's no interesting matchups for Penn at LW, so unless he vacates the UFC is just going to have to throw him guys who have little chance. BTW, would you have given Serra better odds against GSP the first time around? I hate calling victories flukes, but that's about as close as it gets, and it made the WW division exciting to watch as GSP climbed back up the ladder.
It would be bullshit (for Maynard) if Maynard had to fight Edgar again. I'm all about having exciting fights and great matchups, but moreso I'm for fighters being rewarded for their actions. 7 straight wins is 7 straight wins.
