The best-known female fighters in Strikeforce won't be taking part in upcoming tournaments.

Officials for Strikeforce plan to start tourneys for 135-pound and 145-pound women in April, CEO Scott Coker told Sherdog.com. But 145-pound champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, popular fighter Gina Carano and the company's highest profile 135-pounder, Sarah Kaufman, won't be taking part.

Santos has a title defense against Marloes Coenen scheduled for Jan. 30. Kaufman likely will face Japanese veteran Takayo Hashi in February or March to establish Strikeforce's first 135-pound champion, Coker said. Carano is about to start filming a movie.

The tournaments will produce new challengers for the title belts, Coker said.

If womens mma is ever gonna be taken seriously they need more shows for them to display there skills.. and with no payoff cause Gina is not even in the tournament oh boy thats really the only starpower in womens mma

The problem is it is hard to use your most marketable female fighter when she'd get mauled by a rather long list of fighters
