^^ Anderson Silva isn't being referred to as the best fighter walking on the planet. When statements like that are made people want validation. Anderson actually goes out of his way to say hes definitely not the best and will one day be beaten.
He takes the pressure off of himself quite well.

He takes the pressure off of himself quite well. | I have never heard of Fedor saying he was the best in the world, in fact, I recall him saying the exact same thing about one day being beaten. Its more or less the general consensus (not unanimous) that Fedor is p4p best in the world.

He takes the pressure off of himself quite well. | Maybe I got a little off topic there. My point was that Anderson Silva has not fought the biggest fights possible in his MMA career yet. At this point, Vitor isn't even one of them (although an awesome fight) in my opinion. The biggest fights for him are not in the middleweight division alone. He could be sucessful (even dominant!?!) in the three biggest (sizewise) weight divisions.
No matter how humble Anderson and Fedor are...they are by far the top two MMArtists to be called the best fighter on the planet (GSP closing in). Oh my my, to be able to see the fight that could decide...

Silva doesnt seem very focused as of late. I say karma will be a bitch and give Vitor the upset.

I think Anderson is either getting bored or just wanting out of his UFC contract so he can fight Roy Jones Jr. I guess the law of diminishing returns also applies to MMA. The more of something you have the less desirable it becomes.
I dont know if Fedor is ready to retire but Silva has been dominant so long hes probably wanting to do other things. I'm gonna take a guess here and assume he will retire and become a full time instructor after he fights Roy.
I also guess GSP is becoming less motivated as well. Isn't he looking to vacate his belt and compete in the Olympics? Hell in a couple of years all the top dogs we like will probably move on to something

Personally, I don't think either fighter deserves any criticism for whom they've fought, great list of opponents for both. But, I do feel Anderson's biggest fights should be ahead of him. Franklin, Henderson, and Marquardt were probably his toughest opponents and definitely his biggest fights. Lutter, Leben, Cote, and Irvin delayed bigger/better fights for Anderson, with all do respect.
Basically, middleweight a couple of rematches left for Anderson. Light Heavyweight is where all of the big matchups await. And to make absolute history, Anderson can make his run at heavyweight and possibly become the best in MMA history, bar none.
It all depends on motivation, desire for competition, and of course lots of frigging money.

Honestly I would rather see him fight Frank Mir.
And watching Lyoto fight Lesnar would be funny as hell.

Anderson Silva is awesome. I hope he sticks around for another 2 years at least.
The Vitor fight and a rematch with Marquardt are the fights I most want to see him in, though a fight down the road with Mousasi, however unlikely, would be nice.

I'd also like to see him fight Shogun if Shogun beats Machida in the rematch.
If Silva continues undefeated through the end of his contract, I could see him retiring, and then maybe making a comeback in a few years when he gets bored.
