Diego Sanchez and Nate Diaz have a lot in common lately. Both are Ultimate Fighter winners. Both are coming off disappointing losses in the lightweight division and now both are moving into the welterweight division. Now the two newest fighters at 170 could meet up in the octagon sometime soon.

Diego Sanchez sent Nate Diaz a tweet on Twitter welcoming him to the welterweight division,

“I hear your going up too 170 too i would love to welcome you to welterweight lets make it happen”.

Diaz, never one to be at a loss for words responded the only way he knows how,

“I’m just stopping by welterweight I’ll be back at lightweight after this fight but I ll stick around to beat diegos ass…”

So Diaz is moving up to WW for 1 fight? How does that possibly make sense unless he's just testing what the weight cut is like.

kind of sounds like he wants to take a break and not cut weight for his next fight. Or maybe he doesnt want to say he's going to welterweight for good incase he looses and has to return to lightweight.

Can anyone tell me why Diego is going back to WW???

He's undersized for the division, which is why he left in the first place.
He just lost to BJ... so maybe that's the motivation??

I'm just not sure that's the best move for him.

He seems a natural LW.

Anyone know why he's moving back up???

i think he needs to stay at lightweight as well Diego needed that weight cut and he looked a lot more explosive to me especially that guida fight. Diaz cant beat anyones ass nowadays how does he think he is gonna beat on Nightmare?? He is full of himself just like his brother

Did Diego have much of a choice? GSP has been talking about vacating the title, he does stand a good chance against Kos,and Fitch again. And after what BJ did to him, thats gotta sting. What Diego should have done, was stay at LW,hope GSP vacates, and BJ moves up to WW. I still want Diego to fight Edgar and rematch Florian.

He is only 28 and does he not remember why he moved to lw in the first place? It's not like he is at the end of his career stay and improve He might now even have hit his prime yet..NO doubt if he got beat by penn twice id say for sure..but bottom line you got dominated your better at 155 stay there and try to climb your way back to a title but make sure you keep improveing ..if you feel your not improving take different routes branch out I guarantee there is someone with the talent he has to make him better ..

If you got your ass kicked that bad by the champ aka your goal of your current weightclass then you would feel like you have no other choice but to switch something up too.
