UFC 108 sold 8K tickets for $1.97 million gate

The Ultimate Fighting Championship's UFC 108 on Jan. 2, headlined by Evans-Silva, sold 8,004 tickets for about $1.97 million, according to figures released today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Since the start of 2005, only three UFC pay-per-view shows have generated smaller gates in Las Vegas. Two of them, UFC 58 and UFC 64, main events featuring then-middleweight champion Rich Franklin.

The other — UFC 51, led by Tito Ortiz vs. Vitor Belfort — has one trait in common with Evans-Silva: the headline bout did not involve a title fight or a bout to determine an immediate challenger for a title.
