Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria Vs Heath Herring 1,2
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria Vs Fedor Emelianenko 1,2,3 (all of which were wins by Fedor. Why not stop after two. Fight three mad no logical sense at all.)
Paulo Fihlo Vs Akira Shoji 1,2
Mirko Flipovic Vs Josh Barnett 1,2,3 (Again. all three fights going to Mirko).
Wanderlei Silva Vs Kazushi Sakuraba 1,2,3

See, all promotions do it, not just UFC. There are MANY more than thre ones listed, I just wanted to bring those to your attention.
Lets not forget Fedor vs Mark Coleman 1,2.....why the hell did we have to see this fight twice.

Points taken, guys. I am in no way trying to morph this into another Pride Vs UFC thread. I just figured it would be a good idea to point out that other promotions also have weak divisions and need to seek out talent as well.

It would be nice to see UFC streal a few Pride heavyweights, but I don't really see that happening. How did all the talk about Aleks going to UFC start, by the way? Can any of this be confirmed or denied?

The problem is that right now in the sport there is a large gap between the very top tier fighters and the rest of the fighters. So there are only a few fighters in each class that honestly have a chance at winning the title. There are plenty of guys in each weight class but they just aren't high enough level to challenge for the belt.

They had a 3rd Nog/Fedor fight because the 2nd one ended in a NC. Their their 2nd fight took place in the Finals of the 2004 HW GP. The fight was called a NC due to a large open cut on Fedor's forehead. They rescheduled the fight a few months later at Shockwave 2004. Fedor won and became the 2004 HW GP champ. So the 3rd fight was logical IMO

Besides that, you make a very good point. Rematches happen alot in all organizations. It's not just a UFC thing at all.

Thanks for the correction. I used PrideFC.com as my source for the information. Both fighters' pages declare Fedor as the winner of all three fights.

See what happens when you debate with innacurate information? You get owned, kids. Let this be a lesson to all.

I think that instead of bringning in new talent, which does make sense, the UFC needs to do a better job of keeping talent that they do have. Ivan Salaverry, Frank Shamrock, Carlos Newton, Josh Barnett, Vitor Belfort, Sudo, Semmy Schlitt, and Randleman. Just think how much the UFC would look right now if they had kept that list of guys who have fought and at one point been under contract with the UFC. Yeah it would be nice to see new talent, but not keeping guys is a huge issue as well.
