but how is rashad and quinton contenders?
rashad lost to machida and stole a decision against thiago.
quinton been gone for months.. lost to forrest, got a ko against wandy but than a UD against jardine... not a contender the way i see it.

Everyone else has to wait in line. | I think if Rampage wins, a title shot for him would make sense. However, the division has changed a lot since Rampage was champ, and he did the whole retirement thing which totally screwed up the UFC's scheduling, so I could see them forcing him to win a few more times before he can look at a title shot. Nogueira's last win was very impressive, and if he beats on Griffin I think he could instantly be in title contention. Machida beat Rashad quite badly, so if they both win their next fights I don't see a rematch happening soon. Shogun also beat Rampage quite badly, but a lot of what happened in Pride gets overlooked, and it was also quite a while ago.
I think it will still take a few months for the LHW division to calm down, even Griffin is not far from a title shot. If he beats Nogueira, then maybe a rematch with Evans or Jackson, and there he is.

For Dana the right thing to do is to give those he first promised a shot at the title first. Noone at lhw should get a shot without having to beat either Evans/Page.
I say follow the pecking order.
Just my 2¢

If Rampage beats Rashad, he should be the #1 contender. He had a very contriversial loss to Forrest for the belt anyway, that should have been an immediate rematch and they were going to give him the rematch if he and Rashad hadn't done TUF10, but since then he's racked off wins against Wandy, Jardine and Rashad will be the 3rd top contender in a row.
Rashad "might" need 1 more win before getting another title short, but Rampage is the CLEAR next in line for that title. Lil Nog only had 1 fight in the UFC barring a long period of inactivity, Forrest is just finally getting back in the win column over TITO (lol) and Randy will probably have 2 back to back wins himself soon.
All that said, the only reason I can see Rampage not getting a title shot is if he loses to Rashad and/or he intends to retire from MMA after his current contract is up

And he does intend to retire (per his comments)
Im currently under impression that hes being forced to fight right now. Probably a violation of his contract by not doing so.
You dont just walk away from the mafia lmao.

Unless Shogun wins via really really close decision then the next in line will be the Evans/Rampage winner. The only way I can see it being the other way around is if Shogun barely beats Machida via Split decision or something. Then one could make the argument Machida deserves the same chance Shogun got.
But here is how it shapes up IMO:
Evans (if he beats Rampage) will have wins over:
Thiago Silva
Rampage
Rampage (same as above):
Wandy
Jardine
Evans
So IMO it would clearly be one of these two. No one else would have the recent resume in the UFC that either of those guys would have. You can't even compare really. What Couture for wins over Vera and Coleman (maybe). Or Forrest or Lil'Nog whoever wins that fight? No it should be pretty clear cut the Rampage/Evans winner or possibly Machida for Shogun v. Machida 3.

They'll probably fight but I pray every day that by that time Shogun is holding the belt that is rightfully his! DAMMIT!

if rampage and forrest both win, i still think they need a rematch. plus rampage isnt even in the title picture unless he agrees to keep fighting after his contract is up. i know they have the added fight on the contract when you win a title fight but why would ramapge take a title fight knowing that he either has to keep fighting or not fight at all. if he finishes out his contract then he can retire or go fight somewhere else if he wants too. now im sure if he wins, we will hear alot of rampage getting screwed out of title fight again if he doesnt get one. but i for one will not buy into that hype. if he wins and doesnt get a shot its his own doing no matter what he says. if rampage is gonna stay in the ufc dana will give him a shot, he has backed him through worst than there trash talking recently

I think that if page beats rashad then he gets the next crack at the title. If Rashad wins and Lil Nog beats Forrest then Lil Nog and Rashad fight for number 1 contendership. IMO Page already earned his title shot and a win against Rashad would only solidfy it.
