Both brothers seem to do damage with their punches not knock out power but good enough to subdo their apponents. Diaz may lose to some of the UFC fighters but diffentl wouldn't get schooled by more than one of them. You could say Anderson Silva's jab's looked whimpy too against Forest but Forest fell down from them |
All of his wins? Who has he really fought? Honestly speaking, what caliber of fighters has he mauled or went thru where he was technically sound and superior.
Lets be clear, his punches are not "whimppy" nor am I implying they are. Never did I mention that. His fighting style is simple. Not unorthodox, but simplistic and unorganized. The problem is he fights guys that are classified and have specific patterns of geometry when they fight. Watch that fight again and physically look at his tendencies. Look at the way he approaches his opponents when coming foward. You will see him extremely vulnerable and square. His ability to strike you from angles that you would normally not expect your peripheral to time properly, is what catches people off guard. When you say the arm snaps, it does to a certain point, but its his ability to bring punches DOWN at different angles and retract his arm quickly, that inflicts the damage. Its like carpet bombing. Blanket an entire area and you will have a better chance at catching your target.
Its almost like throwing darts. imagine the entire board and aim for a larger cross sectional area. Your brain will calculate the center and will do the rest. Focus on a small point and it become trial and error. Diaz just points and shoots and main targets, thats why some opponents look more damaged that what they actually are.
If you look at Nagy after the Walker fight you would think the guy got hit by a bus.
Now take what you see from him and overlay that with a guy who has good head and lateral body movement. A fighter that can, from the outside, damage his base and take away his reach with deadly leg kicks.
A fighter that can close the the reach gap like Daley and shut the lights off with a blip of the wrist. Or any fighter for that matter that doesn't just cover up, back up against the cage and duck until the flurry stops.
So no he cannot fight IMO. He is just taking advantage of what is given to him because what he is given is a caliber or roster of fighters that are NOT top tier fighters. The strikeforce WW "belt" is a farce IMO and will continue to be so until they can get some skilled fighters that actually have strike DEFENSE.
Just because you go to the gym and beat up on the bag for 20 minutes doesn't make you a professional or top p4p fighter. Thats basically what I was watching last night.
Seriously take a long hard look at how these guys that are fighting for 15-25 minutes and then tell me how he got his wins.
