3 strikes? I thought he only landed 1. Was such a crazy fight, it looked like Lawler was going to be stopped soon.

All I know, is that during that fight, I was really feeling bad for Robbie.
He's a solid striker no doubt, but he was being outgunned, outpointed and fucking outclassed and I kept shouting for him to shoot, seeing as how Melvin's ground game is as solid as his chin, and I was really expecting that fight to get stopped relatively quickly.
It's been a long long LONG time since I've seen inside legkicks that were that brutally powerful and unchecked. They were literally sending Lawler's legs to the side of his head and I was sure one of the was going to blow his knee out. It was somewhat shocking to see Robbie really respond with nothing in that fight during the opening minutes until it devolved into a brawling exchange in which he was eating some serious shots. I still have zero clue how Robbie won that fight, or moreover, how he really thought he would win that fight other than a bottom of the ninth grandslam outta nowhere.
Melvin's a rottweiler of a striker and was doing great, but this fight really showed how much pop is in Robbie's fists, although it was a really bad win in my books. Lawler's a really awesome fighter to watch, but there are so many holes in his gameplan I don't think he'll ever be able to compete with the top tier of the MW and he's quite tactically inferior. I consider him a few levels above Scott Smith and Benji Radach still, but he's really gotta show a little more if he wants to contend against a Jacare, Mayhem, Hendo level of foe.
I think for eveybodies sake Strikeforce should book Manhoef/Cung in a battle of the standup strikers and Lawler/Mayhem to really gauge how much versatility Robbie has.

Melvin has to be funnest guy to watch get KOed. He looks like a cartoon character. He goes jelly legged, quivers, almost falls over, quivers, and then pulls a Flair Flop. It's awesome.

Yeah, those leg kicks were fuckin nasty! Thought he was going to kick Robbies leg right the fuck off. Robbie reminded me of Brad Pitt in the movie Snatch. Getting his ass beat, then just pulling a KO punch out of his ass. I still cant believe it.

A really smart gameplan for Manhoef except for dropping his hands. Robbie has never checked leg kicks. You can go all the way back to the Pete Spratt fight and few fights before that and see the problems he has with checking leg kicks. I like Robbie as well but he was getting destroyed. I was wondering what the hell he was doing not taking this fight to the ground. Maybe its Robbie being a fighter and not sticking to the gameplan that his coaches gave him. It pains me to say this but I think Hughes and Lawler fought a whole hell of alot better when they were training with Pat. There gameplanning and conditing is not even close to what it used to be.

I have to give props to Robbie for the win, but damn I wanna see the New and Improved Melvin fight again. That was fucking awesome! Manhoof fan for life! He's like Wandi, whether he wins or looses, his intent is to bring the pain! To see this guy with an evolved ground game and sharper standing defense......He still has MOST of the tools to be a champ. I hope people don't give him shit about his chin, shit that was a serious fucking punch he took, most guys would have gone out cold.......
