I know these guys aren't "old" per se but for the fight game they've all seemed to have lost a step, so they're pitting them against each other.
Is there really a fan interest in these fights. I honestly feel the Randy vs Coleman fight should be free on spike. It's the worst headliner i've seen in a long time. Maybe i'll get my grandma to fight my wife's grandma and put it on ppv.
Then again, maybe it's only me who has no desire to see this nonsense. |
No sir,I'm with you.If they want to keep the old fellas active, whatever.Have an old timers division and do a show each quarter for free on Spike.Maybe with all of the injuries and shit they had to do SOMETHING but I for one kinda agree that in certain instances, the UFC brand is cheapening itself.

Well Tito if you're going that route; you're making millions because of guys like me. I'm a guy that forks out $45.00 to see you fight and then complain about your injuries after it's all said and done so please take this into consideration K THX YOU VERY MUCH.

okay what im about to suggest is very different from what most think, tito did NOT do anything to purposefully help other fights get more, he paved the way to becoming one of the first and most over paid "talents" and thus became the xcuse the others may have used to want more money, in my opinion the more hundreds of thousands of dollars that are wasted on a single top tier talent the less will be allocated to the low or entry level talent, i have always wanted a minium fighter wage in the ufc for instance of lets say 60k per fight, but we all know some guys are lucky to even make ten grand, i beleive back in tito's time his bullshit may have prevented a more balanced fighter pay system, anyone care to agree or disagree, by the way can we just put tito in the hall of fame and be rid of him chuck is gonna whoop that ass

Tito actually made some great points, in this statement, at least from his point of view.
I think they have the "Legends" fighting each other because that is the only way they can market them. There is no intrigue involving a fight with the older fighters and anyone at the top of their divisions, but if you face them against each other it SEEMS relevant. I also believe that they are taking the nostalgia factor into consideration for hype, but with that being said I don't find the prospect of these matchups relevant to the sport or exciting.

He has one of the highest selling ppv's of all time. He also has the most title defenses (2nd or 3rd i believe behind a.silva and hughes),
and he is a pioneer and future hall of famer.
I respectfully disagree with you on that. Everything else you say is dead on correct and well said. But I dunno Tito could very well defeat chuck this time around.

If the answer is no then surely he must be doing something right that makes you want to see him compete in the octagon.

I stopped buying into his bullshit after the second Liddell fight but regardless of if I dislike/like him I either want to see him win or get his ass kicked.

I may not know what I'm talking about but from what I remember, Tito didn't get what he wanted. He came back to the UFC a year or two later. Strange guy.
Yea, I think he thinks he's Randy.

mma really started to blow up big at a time when tito wasnt really even around (2005 with the original ultimate fighter) then he comes back to face ken shamrock who is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy past his prime, then barely win a dec over forrest in there first match. ok so they give him a title fight with chuck cuz well that sells and tito get beat yet again by chuck who goes on to lose to rampage and rashasd. honestly it looks to me like tito was trying to ride the coat tails of chuck, who launched the career of rashad when he lost to him, and elevated rampage in the states when he lost his title to him.

Everytime he sales his hype I make the mistake of buying into it.
