| Chris Leben vs. Aaron Simpson set for middleweight matchup at UFC 114 Chris Leben vs. Aaron Simpson set for middleweight matchup at UFC 114 | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
The UFC's Memorial Day weekend dance card continues to fill, and middleweights Chris Leben (19-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) and Aaron Simpson (7-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) are the latest fighters set to meet on the UFC 114 card.
The new bout was first reported by Hector Castro of the Ground and Pound in conjunction with Rear Naked Choke Radio, and MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) has since confirmed with sources close to the event that verbal agreements are in place from both participants.
Bout agreements are expected to be finalized shortly.
While not yet officially announced by the organization, UFC 114 is expected to take place May 29 in Las Vegas in conjunction with the UFC's second-ever fan expo.
Simpson, fresh off a split-decision win over Tom Lawlor that earned him a UFC Fight Night 20 "Fight of the Night" bonus, recently confirmed his participation in the UFC 114 card on his Facebook page, though he did not share information on a potential opponent.
A two-time All-American wrestler at Arizona State University, Simpson made his pro MMA debut in 2007, moved to the WEC in his fourth fight, and then joined the UFC for his fifth. After a string of six consecutive victories via knockout, he scored a come-from-behind win over Lawlor for his first decision victory.
Meanwhile, Leben, the ever-popular cast member from the original season of "The Ultimate Fighter," looks to build on the momentum of a much-needed unanimous-decision win over Jay Silva on the same UFC Fight Night 20 card.
Leben had struggled in recent contests with back-to-back losses to Jake Rosholt and Michael Bisping.

Im a huge Leben fan but this is going to be just Leben getting took down the whole fight. Leben doesnt fair too well against wrestlers and it seems like the UFC is just trying to get him on a losing streak or is hopefully trying to make him a more well rounded fighter. I like Simpson but im pulling for Chris.

Soooo, after Leban gets ruined in THIS fight, they'll drop him down to the undercard again and maybe after he loses THAT fight, they can finally cut his one dimensional ass.

if the ufc wants some ratings they should put the meeting where they inform him that he has been cut free on spike him crying hysterically and/or throwing a temper tantrum would make for some great entertainment!

I think this will be a good test for leben to see how far is ground game\ take down defense as come. If leben can keep it on the feet I got leben by ko in this one. If leben can keep improving on his ground game and with his nasty ko power he would be a very dangerous fighter. This will be a great test for him.
War Leben!

I don't like him much either but I don't think he'd freak out. He's an emotional guy but it wouldn't be the end of the world. He could move to a different promotion right out of the gate and I think he has his own gym or something to fall back on. I did hate him on TUF though haha. He was such a bitch back then but he won me over in the Bisbing fight somehow. I just hate Bisbing so much more and always get supreme pleasure out of him getting punched.
speak of which!!! I'm so excited for the Bisbing Silva fight. That is going to be the best fight of all time. SO INSANE AND AWESOME!

Leben wins by "spritzing (or what I call pissing" on Simpson bed
or
Leben loses by breaking a door and cut his hand off
He was crazy as hell on TUF

I think Simpson will outstrike him similair to the way Rosholt did. Simpson is a tough dude, I see him winning this fairly easily unless Leben can connect with a haymaker, but it takes a lot to put Simpson away, ask Tom Lawlor.

I really believe that people like Bill Murray or John Belushi are just as great and just as valid as Robert De Niro or Al Pacino. And I don't think you can say One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) is a better movie than Animal House (1978); they're different genres. I think they're both examples of great craftsmanship.
