Maia might have a chance but I can't believe everyone is giving him a big chance. I will say that if Maia gets a opportunity like Travis Lutter did, it's gonna be bad. But he has to get to that position first.

Only way Maia wins, if the fight goes to the ground, which it won't. I see Anderson Silva winning TKO round 1. This fight doesn't really interest me very much, but then again with Hendo not being around, Belfort getting hurt, and Sonnen being medically suspended for a period of time didn't really give UFC many choices at 185.

What sense does that make?
I see what you're saying but at the same time Maia's only loss in his career was to a top contender in which he got caught--this is completely different than being outclassed and losing a fight. That fight didn't really prove that Maia is not top talent, it just showed he needed to improve his striking against top level strikers like Nate. Bottomline, he holds a win over the number one contender right now and a year is definitely not a long time. Also, he came out and held his own on the feet against Miller which I don't think anybody expected...

i feel pretty confident saying that NO ONE has better mma bjj than nog, who trains silva. so i dont by into the fact that with plenty of time to prepare maia would just completely run over silva on the ground.

the real loser here is sonnen. no he shouldnt get this fight cuz of medical suspension but after silva dominates maia sonnen will probably get bumped to another fight in which he loses just like nate.

i wouldnt of minded seeing silva vs sonnen cuz for the most part we all agree a guy with a strong wrestling base can give silva a good run. though i dont think sonnen would of won. i think the ufc should of kept hendo and gave him the fight or bumped this to a 205 super fight.

I've been waiting for this fight since Maia blew through Quarry and Sonnen like they were novices. Maia's one of my favourite fighters and while ALOT of wind got taken out of his sails from that Nate massacre, I think he's so utterly invisible on the ground that I'll give his one dimensionality a one time pass, given that he really looks to have shored up his striking to a passable defensive level.

Maia via Rd. 2 Submission and I'm thinking we may have to nickname this man Spidercrusher in a few months.....
