Yes he has shown that his striking is vastly improved but this is not K-1 and to say he might be a little overrated when it comes to MMA just really isn't too much of a stretch. This really doesn't do much to pull me away from my stance on the steroid debacle because honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he never fought in the states again. | He did it this past year a couple times:
Fought K-1 - 09/26/2009 -- Peter Aerts at -- K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 Final 16, Seoul, South Korea
Fought MMA - 10/17/2009 -- Tony Sylvester -- Ultimate Glory 11: A Decade of Fights
Fought MMA - 10/25/2009 -- James Thompson -- DREAM.12 Cage of the Rising Sun
Fought K-1 - 12/05/2009 -- Ewerton Teixeira -- K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 Final, Yokohama, Japan
Fought K-1 - 12/05/2009 -- Badr Hari -- K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 Final, Yokohama, Japan
Fought MMA - 12/31/2009 -- Kazuyuki Fujita -- Dynamite!! 2009
All between September 26th and December 31st.
I am sure he will be facing someone the likes of Tony Sylvester, which was a joke...even more of a joke than his fight against James Thompson.
If he doesn't get hit, or fights in the US first then I doubt it will be a problem....If it's K-1 that he is fighting at this event, and he doesn't get cut, they will let him fight anywhere within a few weeks.

That is the only legit match up right now in the SF roster so I highly doubt there looking at anything else. Rogers last fight = loss, Bigfoot last fight = loss so realistically the winner of Fedor/Werdum is their only option for a championship fight. So with only a month in between fights I doubt Allistair "The Juice Man" Overeem will be fighting in may, but Ive been wrong before.

That would be the best idea. Then there would be no potential drug testing issues...and we'd get to see Barnett, who hasn't fought in over a year.
C'mon Strikeforce, please do something...much better than doing nothing.

As much as I think Overeem's a really really GOOD fighter, there are so many knocks against this guy, that day by day he loses his standing with me more and more. I think he loses so much respectability and reputation for the tomato can fights he choses and his utter lack of competition, that it's hard to consider him a GREAT fighter, even though I think he matches up so well stylistically and physically with most of the HWs on the planet.
I consider him to be like the best baseball player who just doesn't care to play in the majors against good pitchers or like a racecar driver who can potentially win at Daytona or Monaco, but prefers to race on a lowlevel circuit where he can certainly win everytime out the gate and for that, I lose ALOT of respect for Overeem. Since he never fights the top tier, yet looks to be equal in talent, there's always a comparison between he and the other elite HWs, but he never proves himself, which takes him down a peg. He's like a fantasy league fighter or something, where you THINK you know how good he really is, but nobody really knows because he's not facing who he SHOULD BE. Compound that with the massive cloud of performance enhancement speculation around him and the fact that he may just not be able to piss clean against the top tier, he's just a recipe for controversy and just looks bad in the eyes of the MMA community.
All of this combined with the possibility that THIS GUY has the tools and potential opportunity to possibly defeat Fedor, makes me disgusted, because he just doesn't carry himself properly at all and I'm quite disappointed. He needs to seriously consider fighting some better fighters or I'm gonna stop considering him a legit HW altogether, even though I'm confident in his talents against the top tier.
Rant over.

Rant over. | I completely understand where your coming from with this. The only reason I'm not saying the same things is because him fighting in K1 the way he did put him up against some of the best strikers in the world. Although he didn't win the tourney, he def. impressed me a lot.

Because of these antics I don't even want to defend him when dumbfucks call him a joke even though he could potentially be really successful at HW.
Coker would most likely strip him of his title and make Fedor/Werdum a title fight--probably still a "joke" to many anyway... | ......Overeem is not a joke if you look at his skillset sure. The reason people call him a joke because he is disrespecting his challengers in SF and in a way disrespecting the sport and the fans for not fighting the top competition in America.
