Default Is anyone looking forward to the IFL 2007 season?

Is anyone looking forward to the IFL 2007 season? I've been watching as much as I can on Rogers Sportsnet and I'm loving it. I really like the different take on MMA, the team aspect is really smart and I really like the best 3 out of 5 concept. The fights are really competitive and great entertainment.

I'm looking forward to seeing who is on this new Russian team. The Russians are always intimidating fighters and it will be great to see a team assembled in each weight class.

Also it will be fun to see the team of fighters that Ken Shamrock puts togeather as well. It will interesting to see what type of fighters he will pick to represent his team. Hopefully he does a good job coaching the guys and show us that TUF was not all ture.

I know that all the fighters are not well know and don't get the hype the UFC guys get, but they are still great fighters with a lot of potential. I don't care who they are, as long as the fighters are skilled and put on a great show.

I hope that the IFL really improves by leaps and bounds this year. Hopefully we see a belt established in at least one of the weight classes.

Here is a list of all the teams for 2007.

The list of IFL teams and coaches for the full 2007 season are as follows:

Chicago Red Bears – Igor Zinoviev
Los Angeles Anacondas – Bas Rutten
New York Pitbulls – Renzo Gracie
Portland Wolfpack – Matt Lindland
Quad Cities Silverbacks – Pat Miletich
Reno Lions – Ken Shamrock
San Jose Razorclaws – Frank Shamrock
Seattle Tiger Sharks – Maurice Smith
Southern California Condors – Marco Ruas
Tokyo Sabres – Antonio Inoki (Coach Tokimitsu Ishizawa)
Toronto Dragons – Carlos Newton
Tucson Scorpions – Don Frye

I agree. i really like watching the IFL shows. They are growing at a very fast rate. and 2007 should be a good session. I know i'm going to the finals in Ct in a few weeks and it should be good.

check out the thread i started earlier this month Could the IFL become #1 Orginazation in the world? i think their fights are enjoyable to watch. and they are signing better and better talent all the time.

i at 1st didn't really know what to think of ifl. it's awesome because it is another branch of mma.....but i guess i just didn't know how i felt about the team thing. didn't really get it at 1st. after watching it a few times, i really dig it. it is a different format which is kinda refreshing......and some of the fighters were really fun to watch. i just caught the episode with miletich vs. gracie a couple of nights ago. good stuff though....i look forward to seeing more of it.

I only got to see a few shows on sportsnet but I was pretty entertained throughout all the shows. There's not really the hype that the ufc gets, but it's solid entertainment. No elbows on the ground which I love, no cage which I dont' think I like, 4 minute rounds meaning quicker pace, I think it has a shot of catching on.

The only problem I see is that we are starting to get flooded with MMA on TV that it could get lost in the shuffle if they don't get "name" fighters.
