It was stopped early.

Yeah he was taking unanswered shots but he was in half guard and he was clearly not that affected by the short punches.

I haven't seen the whole fight so I can't say with certainty but come on, the dude is in half guard and is getting no power behind those shots. Pokrajac was clearly ok.

His left arm was completely free and he could have used it to cover his face if he really wanted to. I'm sure if he knew the ref was about to stop it he would have done something different but he was comfortable enough to give the ref a thumbs up. He was probably just waiting for a good opportunity to explode out of that position

The ref just saved him some dental work and probably saved a few brain cells. He was finished. Maybe still capable of fighting if TeHuna decided to just stand up and stop pounding on him, but seriously.. how was he planning on improving his position there? Maybe an early stoppage, but the refs can't just let a guy get pummeled without defending all night just because he's tough.

Saying you are ok is NOT defending yourself. He was fucked and wasn't doing shit to stop it from happening more. Good stoppage IMO. I would prefer to see the whole fight, or at lest the few minutes leading up to that stoppage but from the gif, I liked it.

Not bad stoppage it was unanswered and the laws for MMA in australia are really fussy In the US they prob would allow it in Australia its still a touchy topic how much is too much for MMA prob better for MMA in Australia as UFC want to go to melbourne where its still not legal. its the Sporting Capital of Australia Bonnas fight was stopped too early IMO it is just the laws for MMA in Australia small cuts have been stoped in boxing let alone in MMA

Also in Australian Boxing News Johnny Lewis said MMA will Kill Boxing unless boxing Unifies under one goverening body on a world wide scale the chances of that happening are slim to none UFC has Giving Boxing a wake up call just like a heart attack is to a fat fuck and it will die if it dont change

Quick stoppage in my opinion.

Unanswered shots is one thing, those weren't a lot more than love taps though. I think the ref had time to issue the "Defend yourself or I'm going to stop the fight warning" and then stop it.

That way a fighters got no reason to be angry, he was warned, he didn't change the situation and so the ref does what he needs to do. Stopping it when the fighter is trying to show the shots are nothing more than cheek ticklers without a warning is a bit harsh.

Those shots look like things you do in sparring, not something that was going to KO the guy. Might be wrong but that's the way I see it.

It doesn't really matter how they act after the stoppage. They could bounce right back up and be completely fine, ala Hustoun Alexander after fighting James Irvin.

The stoppage was just, the ref had no choice in the matter. If he kept getting hit like that there was a good chance it would result in serious damage to the eye.

Dont forget that the fighters safety overides what the crowds. commentators and even the fighter thinks and he was not defending himself for any of the blows. His right arm was pinned under Tehuma's left leg and he could not get it out to block any of the shots.

It was better for Pokrajac in the long run, as he will be able to fight again a lot sooner, rather than get suspended for 6 months due to a bad laceration, broken orbital bone, or hemoraging of the blood vesels in the eye itself.

Taking shots to the head repetedly is definately not good for the brain either as damage like that could take years to show.

I am a fan of this sport and would really hate to see guys who say they are fine in situations like that turn out to need assistance in wiping their own asses 20 years down the road.

Roy Nelson did the same thing to Kimbo and the ref had no choice but to stop the fight even though the punches were not hard and were to his forehead and not Kimbo's face.

yes the fight could of gone on but i wouldnt call it an early or bad stoppage. i mean the ref didnt have to stop the fight just then......how ever he was taking shots to the face. i really think in that situation it depends on the ref and how they view things. i would think they make the dec fight to fight and not a set number of punches or look or gesture to stop every fight. and i find it hard to believe that if he didnt have his bell run that he would of been giving the thumbs up instead of trying to stop the guy from hitting him. i mean why give a thumbs up while getting hit unless maybe the ref did say defend yourself. and instead of doing what the ref said he went thumbs up and who knows maybe he did flash out. i know im rambling just thinking fast as i type. ive seen fights go longer with a guy taking a worse beating but thats definately nothing to get upset about, i wouldnt classify that as a bad stoppage compared to some others we have seen before ( and now that i typed that examples have slipped my mind, ill get back to yall after i think of some samples after this damn meeting i gotta attend).

I just watched this fight last night and think that it was fairly just. I mean, it could have gone on, but Igor had horrible cardio, horrible gameplan by not being able to stay at the end of his punches and getting taken down easily.

Te Huena basically had Igor in the same type of position Roy Nelson did Kimbo....not only was he taking a series of unanswered punches to the face (even though they didn't have much power....he was basically closing his eyes and taking punches....it was weird....I think it had something to do with him being severely gassed, he didn't look like he was going out to me) Even if the fight were to continue, Te Heuna looked like he was going to do the same thing over and over.

Igor got up immediately after the stoppage and he looked OK...he didn't look like he had been KOd...but he was gassed and looked like he was worthy of getting TKOd

Igor had several chances to change the tide of the fight or change what he was doing, but kept doing the same shit over and over...jab, straight, lunge in a throw hooks and uppercuts, then get taken down and ground and pounded.

I was more surprised at how shitty Te Huena's stand up looked...especially since he KOd Anthony the hippo Perosh in August of last year.

With mention of Hippo getting hired by the UFC, and Igor getting dropped, it will be interesting to see what happens to Te Heuna, who had great ground and pound and his wrestling was far superior to Igor and he showed some good heart getting clocked a few times, but always looking for a takedown as Igor crashed in.
