| Cro Cop Says He Was Taking It Easy on Anthony Perosh http://www.cagepotato.com/cro-cop-sa...anthony-perosh
(He will hurt you, but only as much as is absolutely necessary.) Quote:
Those of us who were a little concerned with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s apparent inability to put away Anthony Perosh at UFC 110 should just calm down a second, says the former Pride great. According to Cro Cop, the reason he didn’t put away a bloodied and battered Perosh was because he “couldn’t do that to him when he was so bloody.” This claims prompts the inevitable question, you getting soft on us, Mirko?
It’s hard to say just yet, but it seems as though Filipovic will cut you some slack if you take a fight out of your weight class on short notice:
“I admire Perosh for accepting the fight. There were much better fighters there who turned it down but I understand why; they did not have time to prepare. [But] I am very sorry that I had to hurt Perosh. I tried to fight with as much consideration for him as I could. I even avoided the ground because I am 7, 8 kilos heavier than he is.”
Ordinarily we might be inclined to call shenanigans on a fighter who claimed that the only reason he didn’t finish an opponent was because he felt sorry for the poor bloody bastard, but if you go back and look at the expression on Cro Cop’s face after his elbow sliced Perosh open you get a sense that he might be telling the truth.
However, that still leaves us wondering a) why he didn’t put him away sooner, since there wasn’t much offense coming back at him, and b) whether there’s any place in this sport for acts of mercy.

Interesting read, if was coming from anyone but else but Cro Cop I would call BS. But Mirko has always been a classy guy.

Perosh offered no threat standing, and the whole time I was watching the fight I was saying Crocop could put him away anytime he wants to.
I thought Crocop looked great in that fight, he was moving faster and looked like he was in great shape. I just wonder if it was his opponent or if him going to an actual camp brought back that drive in him. Guess we will have to wait for his next fight to find out for sure.

i dont see how he could go into the octagon looking for a win and take it easy, especially when cc has so much to prove to ufc and the fans. lets face it he has been the biggest dissapointment as a former top notch pride fighter there is.

Can you imagine the shit that would come out of his mouth afterwards?
...sure would like to see a well-prepared (mentally) CroCop destroy the pudgy bastard, though.
