I accept his apology because does anyone actually think that Mir literally wants to kill Brock? If he really did, then he would start fights at weigh ins, he would have done illegal shit in the ring like low blows and punches to the back of the head and holding the fence and not listened to the ref at all.

To be honest Brock was probably laughing at this whole thing (trash talk and apology), he hurt Mir way more than Mir hurt him between both of their fights so he probably isn't taking any offense at all (that's what I think at least).
I didn't care either way about the comments he made or the apology, yeah some people can say it sets the sport back years, but like other people have said, many other fighters have made comments similar to these (BJ Penn for example).

Who cares.

When I heard the comments, I was like most people and thought "who cares?" However, the article did change my mind on the topic somewhat. Fighters are professional athletes, and as such should be held to higher standards. For a sport to truly become mainstream, it has to be OK for young people to watch. And I may be in the minority, but I personally like the guys a lot better who are respectful to each other. I don't like seeing shit talking in the lead up to the fight, and I don't like guys who can't let it go after the fight is over.

Mir is obsessed with Brock. I've never seen anything like it other than Ken Shamrock and Tito... Even that wasn't on the level of OBSESSION as Mir though... It's like freaking Fatal Attraction!

I'm no fan of apology tours though, I can tell you that. I think the apology is due to pressure from Dana and the F bros, rather than Mir genuinely feeling bad.

Like when Kramer blasted the N-word... he went on this freaking month long apology tour! Why? He obviously just stated how he felt. If that's how he feels, who gives a shit. The apology tour does nothing but bring more attention to his ignorance?

If anything HAS to be done, best just to say "Look, I screwed up, I'm human, get over it".

But yea,.... I'm just waiting for Mir to show up with the buzz cut, hair died Brock's color, matching tatoo's etc... Shit is scary! Obsessed!

It's one loss Frank... (Should have been two considering that first fight Brock mauled him then made a huge rookie mistake)... Get over it and move on.

Mir has looked awesome since the Brock fight, why he feels the need to continue bashing Brock is beyond me. Just work your way back up and get it done.

I love trash talking BUT!!!! When you talk it and get your ass beat... You are the one that has to eat those words and you are then fair game to everyone in the world to become the butt of a joke.

.....exactly. A fake apology that came from Mir's idiotic mouth. They were words he uttered because Mir is an attention whore. I said this yesterday in the other Mir thread,people read way too much into what he says. Yes what he said may have crossed some fan's moral compass,but imo we have seen comments very similar to this from many athletes and not batted an eyelash over them. Mike Wilbon brought up the example of Mike Tyson today on PTI. He used to say shit like this all the time and hug the guy after the fight. Remember he said he wanted to eat Lennox Lewis children.....when he said that did you really take him seriously ? I know I didn't.......just like I take everything Mir says with a grain of salt.

.. I really like Mir the fighter. I really respect how his game has evolved,but I just quit listening to his B.S a long time ago.......same with Sonnen and Tito. All attention whores.

Given that it was in the context of "what his mindset is" I don't think it was meant to be taken so literally. Granted, it does give some ammo to the dipshits on the commissions in states like NY.
