Carwin comments on Mir's controversial remarks

All the hype this week has surrounded Frank Mir and his comments toward Brock Lesnar and what he wanted to do to him in the Octagon but what some may be forgetting is that Lesnar isn't anywhere on Mir's calender right but top contender Shane Carwin is. The two will meet at UFC 111 on March 27th and now Carwin has come forward and given his two cents on Mir:
"I can tell you that ANY athlete wishing death upon a competitor is either a terrible human being or mentally unfit to fight. That type of talk and if it ever happened will take this sport backwards. Frank has been a part of the stone ages of MMA and it makes no sense why he would want or make comments that might damage a lot of the good HE has participated in adding to this sport over the years.... Brock is a heel in the ring but at home he is a human, husband, father and friend to many. Wishing death or harm upon him doesn't serve any purpose. I will do my best to make Frank's dream of fighting Brock come true, unfortunately for them it will be a three round fight as I plan on winning both of those belts." NoDQ.com > UFC > Carwin comments on Mir's controversial remarks | What a weird 3 way this has become.

I will start by saying Carwin is a beast. His wrestling is top notch. His KO power is top in the HW divison IMO.
Carwin has always been a stright up dude. Furthermore, I think he will always be.
IMO Carwin can take ANY (yes Brock and Fedor) hw in the world if the cards play out. Ok flame me, but a man 6 ft 4 and 265 at wiegh ins, and can hit that damn hard is not be counted out.
Carwin can and may beat Mir!!!
I like both fighters but I think Carwin has the KO power and TDD to stop Brock. The difference IMO is Mir will have to sub Brock while Carwin CAN KO BROCK.

My problem with Carwin is that he's been inactive, although probably no fault of his since he's been forced into playing this waiting game. But when he goes into the Mir fight, he will not have competed for OVER a year! I guess that's also in part to his surgery and everything.
But Mir is in form right now after seeing the Kongo fight although it was a quick fight. Carwin probably should've had a preparation fight before taking on a top fighter like Mir. Anyway, I'm going with Mir to win this. Carwin's been inactive for too long. And I doubt he was doing much training if any during this extended vacation.

I like how Carwin actually calls out the media for cutting up stories to try and make them interesting. Shane is a good ambassador for the sport.
Carwin is cool dude, very level headed and very respectable, too bad he has to face Mir when coming off a year plus lay-off. Oh well his will his next few fights after and be right in title contention again.

Carwin is over rated, and has been hyped by the UFC in order to fill the gap for lack of substantial HW competitors to feed Brock. It wasn't until Carwin got the call for his title fight with Brock that he started training full time, up until that point he worked a full time job and only trained part time, this drastically reduces his credibility and skill especially as a title contender and (nowadays) as a fighter in general.
Carwin has never fought anyone viable, let alone beat a title contender, Gabe Gonzaga? c'mon he is not top tier by any means. Carwin is not a very good fighter, he is big, powerful and a good wrestler, which makes it easier for the ufc to hype and market him for a title fight with their baby, Brock Lesnar.
Frank Mir should beat Carwin relatively clean and easily. IMO he is probably the only HW in the UFC that has a realisitc chance of winning a match against Brock Lesnar. Winning a match with Lesnar, thats not to say he wont get his ass kicked in the process.
And not to mention that Mir-Lesnar 3 would be the biggest ppv of all time, it would make national headlines and sportscenter, this would be excellent positive exposure for MMA.

This is one of the few UFC fightS I'm looking forward to right now. I think Carwin kinda got forgotten about since Mir was brought into the picture. Mir's mouth has overtaken the storyline.
As excited as I was for brock v. carwin, i'm even more excited about it now. Either way this Mir - carwin fight goes, it's going to be a great fight and a great storyline build up for brocks fight with the winner.
Scenario 1: Mir wins. Carwin and Brock are very similar, Brock and Mir are 1 and 1 against each other... Can brock prevail? Can Mir? If Mir hadn't beaten Carwin I would have said Mir would lose but a win over carwin puts me right into guessing mode.
Scenario 2: Carwin wins. Now we know carwin is the real deal... a win over mir would be carwins biggest win to date. the gonzaga win got his name out there but a win over mir would solidify his contendership.
I can't choose which fight for brock id rather see... if you asked me a couple months ago it would be carwin all the way. But Mir's recent victories, new style, size and trash talk fueling the fire has me wanting a brock/mir III. Good thing carwin and mir will choose for me.
I guess Mir's mission is accomplished now all he has to do is beat carwin... That's a whole other mission in itself though.
Even better is no matter how any of it goes... Now we have yet ANOTHER contender waiting in the wings... Cane!
For me, right now the HW division has the best matchups out of any division. Why? Because I have no idea who is the best out of the handful of contenders. In the rest of the divisions, especially LW, WW, it's pretty obvious, BJ and GSP are stinking up the division for me because I see nobody in their division as a threat to them. I hate a one sided fight.
The MW division is somewhat that way, but with Vitor in the fold now I see Anderson having some competition. After Chael silenced all the "Nate deserves the shot" supporters, I see him as a contender also. Maia... not so much. I can see Anderson easily disposing of him in the first round or I can see Anderson playing with him for 5 and boring the fans out of the building... either way, that fight is dictated and won by Anderson...
The LHW division... I think we NEED Shogun to beat Machida at this point because nobody else is going to IMO. With Shogun as champ, it leaves us with more fresher matches. Even a rematch with forrest would be worthy since it would be a type of avenging the loss for shogun... Rashad hasn't fought Shogun.. etc... If Machida wins, I'm routing for Jon Jones who I feel will destroy Vera to get the title shot. Rampage doesn't stand a chance with Machida being he can't check a kick to save his life. They will have to wheel rampage out of there at the end of that fight, his legs will be done! Rashad IMO is afraid of Machida, I feel like he was in the first fight and I think he's scarred for life at this point for Machida.
Once again as I've said for the longest time... Move BJ, GSP and ANderson up one weight division and the UFC is completely reborn and refreshed. Endless dream fights.
