I'd love to see what you would have said if it'd been Fedor this story was about

p.s. Typo in the thread title, should read $7500 not $75000

he would have called for Fedor to get a Nobel Peace Prize and shunned the world for not being more like him. I hear those Peace Prize's are easy to get these days....

Yay Dana! Nice to see he took $7,500 from the purse of one of his fighters and donated that to this poor child. And just $7,500? From a man who's worth about $700 million? Let's hope good old Dana still has enough for that next Ferrari.
Just remember, even Don King donated $50,000 to some charity while leeching off his boxers. I'm sure not ready to call this motherf*cker a saint after all the lives he's ruined, I assure you.

there's a [fairly goofy metaphorical] story about two guys on a beach full of starfish drying in lowtide. One picks up a starfish and throws it back in the water and the other says something to the effect of he's wasting his time, he'll never be able to save all of them. And the first guy says he was able to save that one, though. And then he picks up another one.

I know, starfish suck, but I'm pleased that dana is doing the right thing here. If I thought about the people I couldn't help every time I'm moved to do something right, I'd never have the energy to do anything at all, and I wouldn't be able to even help the first person.

I'm not sure if they're referring to his personal donation of £5,000 or the £56,000 that the campaign has in it. The math would be close either way.

And either way, I hope the girl makes it.

That's funny. I made a $500 donation to Cancer Society 3 months back and countless donations towards other charities over 20 years including over $1000 in food and clothes to the Red River Flood in '97. I don't see anybody calling me a good person or a hero or anything like that.
All I get is abuse and insults from people. Just the other day, several guys called me a piece of sh*t who needs to die. It's funny just how society works eh?
The famous are branded heroes and great people whereas the average joe goes unnoticed. LOL!

Stupid people saying stuff like that is what makes it difficult for ANYONE to donate and help others out. Comments like this make good people think twice about donating because whatever they do, it's never enough for some people.

Would you rather have Dana donate $1 for 7500 different people and hope that makes a difference? I'd rather give this girl a much better chance than have virtually no impact on a lot of people

just be content knowing you're making a difference and doing a good thing. The only person you should care about noticing are those you're helping.

I know I'm doing a good thing. Nobody else knows it. And the people I'm helping don't know me from Adam or Sam walking down the street. I think people who donate should be recognized and awarded.

Dana's using the money from his own fighters to make donations. Don King did the same thing. He used Mike Tyson's and Tim Witherspoon's money to pay his hotel expenses and all sorts of other crap. But I guess since Don King made a contribution to sick people, he's a great guy now?
