James Toney is a legit beast. The guys as tough as they come but this is an entirely different game.
I just can't see how at his age and within a certain amount of time he's gona pick up all the necessary skills.
Some1 like Brandon Vera would just chop the guys legs out from underneath him and wouldn't even get into striking range.
There's a long list of people who would just take him down and whack on a sub. We all saw what happened to Brock in his first UFC fight and that was a guy with world class wrestling ability. Now take an amateur guy with no wrestling experience and you'll multiply that many times over.
There are people you can put in there vs Toney and will make for a good fight. Some1 like Eddie Sanchez who's going to pose no trouble on the feet and without killer take down or sub ability.

I don't think its a horrible thing that the UFC signed Toney, its not like they sign Canseco or something. The guys a fighter at heart and wants a chance. I personally think that through his boxing career he's earned that right. It's all a matter of strategic match making. They shouldn't feed the guy cans, but rather people who aren't afraid to trade. Someone like Pat Berry, Buantello, Kongo, or Cro cop are all interresting to me. We all know he has no ground game, so set the man up with someone who has the same mind set. That way we can get a knock out at least hahaha.

Anybody else think Dana White is a complete evil genius for doing this? Think about this...
ESPN and all the big news agencies are going to be all over this, creating major buzz and face time for the the UFC.
What was everybody talking about less then 24 hours ago? Strikeforce. Hendo/Shields. Aoki/Gilbert. Whats everybody on the internet talking about now? The possibility of Randy/Toney. And if you don't think that would be the highest selling MMA PPV of all time, your crazy.
DW has been harping on the death of boxing and the superiority of MMA for a while now. This is his chance to prove it to the world, with maximum exposure for his company. This is a great opportunity to showcase MMA to a wider audience. Forget the fact that Toney is well past his prime.

So if Toney knows all that stuff, then Vera's kicks probably shouldn't be a big deal to Toney at all. Judging by Toney's supposed confidence.

I prefer my opinions to be informed- not based on hearsay on hyperbole.
When I hear that Toney has stated that he, "...can defend all that shit...", in reference to kicks, I am compelled to ask what his credentials are to back that up.
He should reference some bona fide training time in a kick-boxing discipline...
Failing that, I have to conclude that against any semi well-rounded MMA practitioner, he's gonna' get blown up real good.

. | LOL so he knows everything, wow, its incredible how much he talks. He has 0 fights in MMA and he says he can defend everything, we will see that.
But to be honest I think that he just sparred against some mid/low level guy that tried a sloppy kick, Toney defended it and now thinks that everyone in UFC is going to kick like that and he will defend it easily.

That allows Toney to still make the big bucks (with other promotions). In turn that means DW doesn't have to empty the UFC's wallet in signing Toney.
Now lets get to the niddy. James Toney vs Kimbo Slice.
UFC should ride the cash cow before any of the two racks up any UFC losses.
Can you imagine the ppv sales? I mean got dayummm.
