I don't think either guy deserves to be a contender win or lose in this fight. I will enjoy watching the fight, but I do feel it's a pointless fight in the grand scheme of things. Randy is 683 years old so he doesn't have many fights left. If Dana is going to try and sell Randy as a contender he needs to have him fight the top guys, not Franklin. He's never done anything at LHW. He's never beaten a great fighter at any weight. Today's version of Silva doesn't really qualify. If Franklin wins then what? So he beat Randy, a guy wins a few and loses a few for the last 8 years. These are clearly 2 of the best guys out there, they'll fight anyone on any night and they represent MMA in the manner it should be presented to the public. I just feel that there are so many fights that need to happen in the UFC and this isn't one of them. These aren't up and comers, they are established stars that should only be fighting meaningful fights at this point in their careers.

Am I alone in thinking that both guys just kinda get "meh" fights nowadays, although that Wandy Franklin fight was awesome, Im just not really interested in either one of these fighters at the moment.

If Franklin loses this fight I say he will retire. IIRC he said when he re-signed for his current contract that he was retiring when it was up anyway. I just don't see Franklin taking this one. Randy's gonna be too tough to knock out before he can get Franklin in the clinch for some dirty boxing or to the ground for some gnp.

Randy by some sort of decision.

...Rich is not done if loses this either. Really you could say that more towards Randy if he loses. I like both guys. I don't want to call it,but my mind would tell me Randy UD. I think I would like to see Rich get the win,as he needs it more. He got robbed against Hendo.....if anything that fight should have been a draw. The Vitor fight the ref never said anything about the illegal blow to the head,as to the reason he was KO'ed. Rich probably would have still lost the fight imo...... I'm just sayin.

Rich signed a new deal for like 5 fights no to long ago. If I remeber correctly, Rich said he maybe done when this deal is over. But this fight win or loose he will be back. The UFC will not cut Rich or Randy.

Thats silly. You ever heard of Evan Tanner or Yushin Okami? What about Wanderlai Silva? These guys ringing any bells?

Rich is one of the best Middleweights the UFC has ever seen.

Yes, they ring bells...but I said "GREAT" fighters. Tanner and Okami were good fighters, but neither one is even near a conversation of great fighters. Wandy was of course a great fighter, but I did preface my statement by saying beating Wandy today doesn't really qualify. Certainly you don't think this is the same Wandy that was killing people in Pride. I like Franklin, but he isn't a great fighter and has never beaten a great fighter.

I don't know...I'd say that drawing/beating (yeah, I said it) Henderson makes Rich a great fighter. Prior to Anderson Silva coming in and absolutely curb-stomping everyone, Rich was the greatest middleweight that the UFC, and probably MMA, had ever seen. I'd still pick him to beat a good many top 185ers in the sport today.

But yeah, Randy is a bad matchup for him. Tough to KO anyway, and Rich has never shown consistent KO power in his hands. He's more of a wear-you-down kind of striker, and Randy just doesn't get worn down.

He will lose. Rich will lose by being held against the cage with minimal or no damage done.
