Randy Couture vs. Rich Franklin Now In The Works for August
Posted by Kris Karkoski on Feb 13, 2010 at 9:00 am ET
UFC hall of famer, five-time champion, and light heavyweight contender Randy Couture was not offered a fight with middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who is now set to fight Demian Maia at UFC 112 after Vitor Belfort withdrew from the event on Thursday, and is instead likely to fight former middleweight champ Rich Franklin next.
The potential Couture-Franklin matchup was first reported on Thursday, but is now in the works for August, Couture’s attorney told Sherdog on Friday, instead of UFC 115 in June as originally speculated. The UFC’s Boston debut is slated for August 28, though the promotion could also stage an event earlier in the month.

Randy will put up a good fight, but I think Rich will be too much for him. Randy won't be fast enough to come forward and tie Rich up; Franklin should be able to catch him and pick him apart, especially coming in. Franklin should be careful of being taken down off of body kicks, keep his distance, and move. Couture has to cut off the ring, stay close, and work on the inside.
Franklin via TKO (punches), 3rd round.

If Franklin fights aggressively he can take this. If he's too careful he'll find himself outpointed and maybe even on his back. I think he's got the power to stop Randy if he wants to bad enough.

I haven't seen a truly impressive Rich Frankling performance in ages and feel that he's become to tenative and hangs in the pocket too long without ever pulling the trigger.
I think that really will be an issue against Randy Couture, who'll push forward and score points in the boxing realm prior to roaming into the clinch and really punishing Franklin. Aside from that catch wrestling submission style, which probably won't come into play at all during this fight, I don't know a single area where Franklin really beats Randy.
Randy UD.

Damn,, I want both of them to win too. Has the potential to FOTN.
I think Randy by UD also, but rich will make it one hell of a fight.
