| Three of Four WEC 47 Main Eventers [Medically] Suspended - THREE OF FOUR WEC 47 MAIN EVENTERS SUSPENDED- MMA WEEKLY - Mixed Martial Arts & UFC News, Photos, Rankings & more Quote:
The Ohio Athletic Commission on Monday released medical suspensions for Saturday’s WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz, featuring Brian Bowles vs. Dominick Cruz, at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Three of the evening’s four co-main event fighters were suspended due to medical reasons.
Below are the suspensions following the event:
- Dominick Cruz is suspended indefinitely unless he gets medical clearance for broken hand.
- Brian Bowles is suspended indefinitely unless he gets medical clearance for a right hand injury.
- Miguel Torres is suspended indefinitely unless he gets medical clearance from a surgeon for the cut to his forehead.
- Chad George is suspended for 60 days and must get medical clearance prior to his next fight because doctors observed that he was unstable following his fight.
- Chad Mendes is suspended for 60 days and must get medical clearance for a cut prior to his next fight.
- Danny Castillo is suspended for 60 days, which is standard due to a knockout loss.
- Courtney Buck is suspended for 60 days, which is standard due to a knockout loss. (Buck’s finish was treated as a knockout due to him being choked unconscious.)
- Bendy Casimir is suspended for 60 days, which is standard due to a knockout loss.
| I still won't change my stance...Bowles pussed out. I have NEVER seen a fight stopped because of a hand injury. Cruz didn't and he wanted it more.
*Sorry for the typo in the title*

Well, when you get in there and experience the same thing he did, you can call him a puss. Until then you shouldn't pass judgement when you have no idea what he went through.

There are different degrees of breaks as well. A broken bone on one part of the hand, knuckle or wrist may be completely different (as to pain levels and severity) than other parts of the same hand.

So through sports from the time I was 8 to all the fights I've been in (how about the time I was stabbed and didn't quit fighting? Is that good enough?) with all sorts of things busted and broken. And yes I've broken my hand, along with every finger on each hand multiple times. So how about YOU don't assume.

I think the far more intelligent decision is to stop fighting, let the break heal, and come back, rather than grinding the break into powder and risking your career.

....if he would have kept fighting he would have broken both hands like Faber did.....is that smart ? I don't think so. We don't know how severe Dominic's break was either. We all saw the picture of Bowles hand.....it was blown up like a balloon. I'm sorry but for anyone to call Bowles a pussy is idiotic.

During training he had like 8 knife fights and got shot by some KeyBoard Warriors trying to rob a little old lady and ended up weakening his hand proir to the fight after he punched them all in tha face!!! dont assume!!
No one cares what YOU"VE been through and clearly you're biggest warrior out there, battling people while getting stabbed, shot, maced, tasered etc. I bet you're cutting and pasting your 10 threads a day with two broken hands, a broken back and two eye patches on, right? Cuz you're not a pussy, right?
He did the right thing not continuing. Let it heal. Come back.

I can't really say anything about Bowles. My only real injury was a sprained shoulder and that reduced me to a hair above worthless. I wouldn't have continued to fight with my shoulder sprain if it happened in a fight. Its not about the pain, adrenaline helps with that, its about being unable to function how you normally can coupled with potentially harming yourself more.
