Jens Pulver: ‘I’m Not Going To Say I’m Retired’

Remember when I said all the farewell pieces to Jens Pulver might be a little premature? This is why.

“No, I’m not done,” Pulver said. “I’m disappointed. I just think it’s not fair to do this to all of you, to go out there and just not get the Ws.

“But I guess in the end of it all, that’s not what it’s all about for me,” Pulver continued. “I never did this for money. God knows I didn’t do it for money. I’ve always done it because this is my life and this is my lifestyle, and I’m just on a no-hit streak. I just can’t hit. So we’re going to keep working.”

“I’m not going to say I’m retired, but I want to build Driven, I want to build the gym, I want to keep training,” Pulver said. “I feel very confident in Tony [Fryklund] and the practices that we were having. Three months working out like this and I think the changes were there.”

Not that I don’t agree with all the great things that have been said about Jens Pulver in the last two days or that he doesn’t deserve them when he does retire, but can we give him a moment to breathe and figure out what he wants to do before say goodbye to someone who might not be leaving?

MMA has passed him by. Jens should retire and get himself a real job. He may still have a few brain cells left by 50 if he calls it quits now. What's the point of getting KTFO in every fight for just 14K? LOL!

I dont know I can get in trouble for saying this , so if I can I would like to say im sorry. I know I dont have enough rep, or have been on this forum long enough to be saying this. But can some BAN THIS GUY. he dose this froum no good and every thing he post is just rude. I know I would not mind seeing him gone.


I still think jens as a lot to give I hope he takes somethime off and comes back stronger.

At this point in Jena career he's still fighting for himself you know? just like Randy Couture. He has his own gyms to make money from and a career off of, he just wants to fight here and there to keep himself happy. That's why he doesn't want to say he's retired, cause he doesn't want to renage like Randy did.

I'm kind of glad that Jens isnt "retired". The man is still young and if fighting makes him happy then he should keep fighting. What I would like to see Jens do is move to the minor leagues ala Dan Svern. I think it puts too much pressure on him to have all this hype put on him before a fight and then when he loses it's like he let everyone down. If he would go to the smaller shows he could still do what he likes to do and would probably beat 80% of the fighters there and even if he lost it wouldnt be as big of a deal because he wouldnt have a camera in his face and millions of people watching at home.
