Couture: Time for Fedor to Step Up and Fight the Best
3/10/2010 By Michael David Smith
No one has more respect for Fedor Emelianenko than Randy Couture. For years, Couture has proclaimed Fedor the best fighter on the planet, and Couture's burning desire to test himself against Fedor was a big reason that he tried to leave the UFC in 2007.
So it's telling that Couture has now joined the growing number of people in the mixed martial arts community who are questioning what's going on with Fedor.
In an interview with MMAPrime.tv, Couture questioned why Fedor seems to be stalling in scheduling his next fight, which is supposed to come against Fabricio Werdum.
"I think at some point Fedor's going to have to step up and be willing to fight top-level guys again. I don't know what's going on with him or why he's not willing to do that, but certainly Werdum is one of those guys he's going to have to face. To be considered the top fighter, the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, he's going to have to face tougher opponents. So hopefully we'll see that fight happen."
Fedor is unquestionably the best fighter in the history of MMA, but he's running a real risk of tarnishing his legacy because there's always so much drama surrounding the scheduling of his fights. When Couture is calling him out, you know Fedor's reputation has taken a hit.
I think this is becoming the general concensus with Fedor: He's the best, but he's gonna have to start to prove why we say this. I usually agree with anything Randy says, this is more of the same.

The only thing I disagree with is that scarf he's wearing. Warm enough for short sleeves, but cold enough for a scarf? You look like a crazy homeles person.
This discussion will never end, and Ill tell you why. It's because Fedor will neeever be in the UFC, its as simple as that. People just need to accept it. I'm not saying it's a good thing, its just not going to happen.
So Fedor will continue to fight this type of competion right up until he retires. Then even after he retires everyone will still be saying "what would have happened if he fought Lesnar, Cain, Mir, etc". So it will just be a never ending discuaaion of "what if".

Yeah no shit, what's next Moccasins/snowshoes in the fucking summer?
The fasion police are coming out on this forum...lol

I would bet most MMA fans feel this way already. maybe not fedor fans but any true MMA fan has to ask them self why is it always tough to make a fedor fight happen. why do his opponents seem to start in the top ten then by fight time he is fighting some guy who may be in the bottom ten but really should not be there or maybe this is just how i feel.
Randy Couture is always stylin' and profilin' and this attire is completely acceptable for somebody with his level of class. It's probably not even a scarf anyways, rich people tend to wear ASCOTS alot fo the time.
