Wow this is gigantic considering the pay per view is just around the corner! I mean I love the WEC, but I really can't afford the price they'r charging. They could do so much better in my opinion if they charged half that price. I see the event being a disaster in the end.

Although the WEC is very exciting, I'm not sure making their cards PPV was the best choice. They should have kept it free so the the mma fans had something to keep them interested in between UFC PPVs, which is where they make their real money.

Fail. I feel like I have to buy their PPV, just so they have at least 1 buy.

WEC will not be able to sustain PPV. I still think they should merge w/ the UFC. This way the lighter weight guys could get paid and promoted better. It would also help to bulster some of the weaker UFC cards.

I wonder how much the poor viewership has to do with the event being held on a Saturday instead of its usual Sunday time slot. I agree, the marketing was poor, but my friends and I are WEC stallwarts, and they all assumed the event would be on Sunday night. I think the reason for the change was to acclimate people to the WEC 48 PPV being held on a Saturday night. But with these ratings it doesn't look like WEC 48 will make an impact (even with a PPV-worthy main event).

well let's take a look at the star power they had this past weekend. sure, we all wanted to see the torres and bowles matchups, but a lot of casual fans may only know faber and brown... and think that pulver is just some scrub. marketing and public awareness of the WEC are still very low in the public eye, and honestly, if i didn't come to this website every day i would never hear a thing about it. meanwhile, the UFC does regular radio spots here and bars everywhere push the hell out of UFC PPVs.
let's not get too excited and say that the WEC is flatlining, it was just a weaker card than the last one and their brand hasn't been built yet.

And I think it is a poor idea on Zuffa's part because I doubt many people will purchase the events.

The fact that you can't watch it on Directv is huge. I have no interest in WEC since I can't see it anywhere.

The difference is the marketing you are correct sir!! The UFC does a hell of a job of hyping thier PPVs. Hell is the UFC card is not that strong they make it (ie pumping up a figther that may not be as good advertised)
Zuffa should use the UFC marketing for WEC if they want it ot work.
Separate note: Does the WEC have a separate marketing manger from the UFC?
