Fight your fight.
I do bjj but i'm not really interested in fighting. A lot of the guys I train with have fought a few times, and their downfall has been not fighting their fight. I've seen a ton of guys with sick BJJ go out there with the mentality of wanting a big highlight reel knockout. They turn into a kid stuck in a schoolyard brawl and needless to say, it doesn't work out.
I'm not sure how comfortable you are with striking, but i notice you said you have a lot of wrestling and some bjj experience. If you are comfortable in being able to stand up, by all means go ahead. Just remember that lucky punches happen. a lucky sub or a lucky ground and pound....not so much. Just stay focused and get it done. Don't lose your discipline and turn into the schoolyard brawler.

Good luck man. Best idea is to pace yourself and let the other guy wear himself out. Amateurs usually have bad conditioning. After that, it should be an easy GnP or Sub after the takedown. BTW, what weight class do you fight in?
Nevermind, I see you posted the weightclass. But if he's SHW, his conditioning is probably horrible like I said.

My advice is to not take any advice from anyone on here and listen to your coaches, training partners, etc. If you just got up off the couch and are fighting then good luck.

Relax out there because it's your first time fighting in front of a crowd you might feel presured to be exciting, it sounds like you've done the work so it should be fun to watch, just remember your technique and fight the way you would if someone came at you hard in the gym.
Good luck can't wait to hear how it goes

Sakara is pretty much right. There isn't anything special we can help you with, your coaches are the ones that do that. You've been training for a while, so just do what you have been trained to do. Now is the time to show it all off |

If your one of the first fights on the card than make sure your ready and get your hands wrapped early and signed off by the commision so you have enough time to warm up. If your one of the later fights on the card dont warm up right away try to relax and maybe catch the first fight or two. Come out to some good music like some atmosphere or somethin and just have fun. Its just amateur this is all pretty much a learning experience.
And of course all the other shit people were saying hands up, chin down. Train more, bleed less yada yada yada, GOOD LUCK BRO!
