| Next UFC Lightweight Champ
Basing this on a previous thread that was mistakenly titled, who is going to be the next dominant (i.e. a champion who succesfully defends the belt) lightweight champ, if they ever get around to it?

I pick Sherk even though it's a blind pick since I've never seen him at 155. I don't see anyone being able to stop his takedowns, and he'll maul the shit out of anyone on the ground at 55 I think. We'll see though. Out of that list, he, Thomson, and Edwards are the most likely IMO.

I picked the "Muscle Shark" as well. His power and experience is enough to dominate that division so far. I mean the guy only has 2 losses and those were to the 2 top WW in the world. At 155 he should mow over most of the guys in the UFC pretty easily.

I like Sherk as well.I think that Kenflo will also have great success at 155. I like him a lot and now that he's fighting at his natural weight class. He'll be a force. He has good standup and great Jui Jitsu.Plus some sharp as fuck elbows. The guy I'd really like to see at 155 is Nick Diaz.I think he could have great success at this division. All his recent losses came to guys who overpowered him.At 155 there wouldn't be as many guys that could over power him.It be more evened up.

I always wondered if Diaz could make 155 too, because he seems small at 170. He's tall and everything, and there's not an ounce of fat on him, so I don't know if he could make 155. I don't know what his walk around weight is. If he could make 155, there's where he should be fighting.

Sherk really should be the general favorite. His experience and ability, as well as his size should give him significant advantages over the other prospects. His weight will be interesting to watch, as not everyone responds well to dropping weight classes, so it will be cool to see how he responds to fighting at 155.
